Blitz Vick and stop the run. Make Vick beat us with his arm. He hasn't beatin anyone with his arm and might not have the capability to right now. He has a low completion % and doesn't seem to be good at passing. The Falcons are a heavy run team so therefore we need to keep 8 in the box to stop the run and blitz Vick. Take Crumpler out of the passing game and Vick no longer will
have his favorite target.

As for our offense we just need to play ball control and keep our D fresh so Vick can't run wild. Chambers will be takin out of the game by Hall so we need to find McMichael and Booker as well as run the ball well with two fresh backs.

Miami can win this one and will if they stop the run. The Falcons don't have the capability to beat you through the air with Vick.

Exactly...Blitz Vick and force him to fumble it or throw an INT and keep Zach around the line for when Vick tries to run it....Zach should shadow Vick the whole game and let everyone else worry about the rest of the team.

I agree, but it's almost like saying score more points and we'll win. I do think that if we can stop the run, our chances of winning increase tremendously. But, actually stopping the run will be a major feat.

well when hes blitzed is when he can be most dangerous cause if he escapes it hes gone...

i thikn we need good pressure from our front 4 with a spy on him, and im thinking channing would be a better spy than zach since hes a little faster... but before we even worry about vick we gotta stop dunn, hes what gets that offense going, in their wins he averages about 125 yards a game, in their 2 losses, about 65... so he'll be what we should focus on even before vick...

i didn't know he even had arms. i thought he just go the ball lodged in his side or helmet and ran every time.

I agree. But Dunn going into Miami without his beast of a spell Duckett means he is gonna have it all on his shoulders to get the running game going for Atlanta. I feel our defense has the tools to shut Dunn down early and force Atlanta to try to beat us downfield. Which from what we have seen this year isnt too hard to do. If we can win the turnover battle, get our own run game going, and not commit 20 penalties, we could be in good shape to hit the mid-season mark at 4-4.

BTW, Coach Ditka is taking Miami against Atlanta next week, we cant lose right!?!:D

The gameplan is simple but stopping Vick is the hard part. I don't know if I would blitz Vick, I would rather have a consistent pass rush and have the guys stay in there rush lanes. I think Jason Taylor will be used much like Julius Peppers is used vs Vick.

As everyone has stated, first thing first, we have to stop the run. If we can keep Crumpler in check, we should be ok, we just can't allow Vick to run around all day on us...I'm sticking with what I said last week, if we win the turnover battle in win big in time of possession, we should win many more ball games than we lose. Last week we came out with a tie in the TO battle but with 13 more mins than the Saints in TOP.

I agree... The major thing that scares me is when Vick breaks down the containment. He improvises better than any quaterback in the league. He can cause us to have a very long day if that happens.

Anyone know if Duckett is healthy? Their running game has been devestating. Warrick Dunn is one of the most underrated palyers in the league.

Blitzing Vick too much is a bad idea. He gets most of his big runs against the blitz. Miami will need to pick and choose when to blitz very wisely. There is no need to try and blitz Vick all the time.

Dunn can be contained. He is good, but not great. The player on their offense that worries me the most is that tight end. Duckett is a BIG guy. We all saw what KC's BIG tight ends did to Miami a couple weeks ago. Miami has trouble with the big tight ends. The secondary is often responsible for bringing them down after a catch. Miami's secondary has had questionable tackling in the past. If I were Saban, I would be preparring them all week for Duckett. Eliminating the tight end option will force Vick to pass to his WRs.

Miami's D-line played great this week. That is the D-line that won against Denver and Carolina. We should let them put the pressure on Vick. Our LBs need to be focusing on Dunn, and picking up Vick if he escapes the pocket. Also, we can use our LBs to help out against the tight end.

Stop Duckett, Stop Dunn and don't over-pressure Vick with the LBs.

you're right! it is going to be easy to gameplan for the falcons... that's why the professionals who get paid to do itgameplan have compiled a 2-5 record thus far against atlanta this season.. right?

the original thread starter has pointed out correctly our points of concern... the only thing is, we cant take out the running game, spy vick, and take out crumpler simultaneously.... thats asking way too much.... you have to pick your poison.... Our best defense might be a good offense this week for 2 reasons: keep them off the field, and if we get a 2- score lead, they will look to pass more and we can lead up a little with the 8 man fronts and focus on crumpler....

Good points about the offense. Another great running performance out of Miami's offense would be just the thing to ensure a win.

Note: I didn't mean that we try and do all those things simultaneously. We need to do those things consistently. It will be up to the defense to have the correct formation called against the right play (whether it be to Duckett, Dunn or Crumpler). The tight end for Atlanta is Crumpler, not Duckett. My mistake.
