It didn’t attack Kenny Stills personally. It didn’t contain a string of four-letter words. And there was no evidence that the writer’s keyboard was suffering from a severe caps-lock malfunction.

“It was like, ‘Hey, I’m a big fan of yours. I have a ton of respect for you as a player and as a person and I really just think you’re making the wrong decision,’ ” Stills said.

The choice Stills had made was to pull out of a trip he and a dozen NFL players were taking, back when they believed it was a goodwill trip to Israel. Stills, along with five others, canceled their plans once they become convinced they were being used as political pawns by the government against the Palestinians. Five players went ahead with the trip, including former University of Miami defensive lineman Calais Campbell of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Given the hot-button nature of the political climate in the Middle East, there was no way for Stills to please everybody, including the man contacting him via Instagram.
“It was a really thoughtful message,” Stills said.

And what happened next should be a message to just about anyone who passionately posts on social media.
Stills didn’t fire back at the man.
He called him personally.
“I know that I can’t speak to everyone about the situation and the decision I made, so I told him, ‘All right, well, what’s your number? I’ll call you and explain the situation I’m in and why I made this decision,’ ” Stills said.
People on different sides of an issue, talking it out? Really?
“It’s having a conversation, being open to the conversation and then respecting each other,” Stills said.

In case you’re wondering, here why Stills canceled his trip:

cool little story, good to see kenny is so down to earth and willing to see both sides of the opinions

Everybody should put themselves in somebody else's shoes, life's not one-sided.

That's cool as ****. Props to Stills. I know he has Ross' full support and he's got mine, too.

Dolphins' Michael Thomas Says Owner Stephen Ross Gave His Blessing to Kneel During Anthem

Moments before four Miami Dolphins players took a knee during the National Anthem on September 11, 2016, safety Michael Thomas says he was "nervous as hell."
"I remember it like it was yesterday," said Thomas, who spoke at a town hall meeting about social injustice Monday night.

Thomas recalled how his mind was racing. Then, he shared how a conversation with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross gave him the courage to join Colin Kaepernick's controversial protest.

"I saw Mr. Ross come in the locker room and I go up to him and try to explain to him we're thinking about taking a knee," Thomas said. "And for him to stop me and say, 'look Mike, whatever ya'll choose to do today, I got your back 100 percent,' that's just a testament to what type of person he is. How he truly feels about equality for all."

Politics and Football...not a good mix, either way, Kenny did well this time.

Wow 2 very cool stories.

If i was a player coming up for free agency, more and more i'd be taking notice of Stephen Ross. Regardless of one's stance on the kneeling, that type of support and respect is attractive. As much as Jerry Jones gets ridiculed, he seems to have that quality going for him as well.

Ross is quite the opposite of a jerkoff like Snyder. We're lucky to have an owner that is willing to put his money where his mouth is, and one who for better and often worse lets those people he hired do their jobs. He may finally have gotten it right with gase

And kudos to stills

Maybe Kenny's changed but he wasn't so personal while on the Saints. He never acknowledged the fans ,but I believe his father had much to do with that (Father played in the league).
When the away teams come to Tampa(where I live)/ Jville, me and a couple of my buddies go to the team hotels to get and sell autographs for extra money.
When Kenny was here 3 years ago, his father would not let him go interact with the fans (even the REAL Saint fans lol). Actually turned into a shouting match with a father trying to get Kenny to sign for his son and ended up just being ignored. At that point I thought Kenny was a complete D***.
I knew he was unhappy in New Orleans ,so maybe that was why he was so unpersonable. Anyone meet him lately?
Seems to have embraced our fan base more. At least he's happy being a Dolphin!! lol
BTW Besides Suh lol, the Dolphins are the best signing team in the league. They're awesome..Wake, Landry, Reshad, Ajayi, etc..
