all said Duante held the ball too long. There are a lot of Duante defenders here and I am not say he is awlful, but everyone I was with today who watched the Dolphin game and were not fans of the Dolphins said the same thing. He appears to be a bit indecisive. I know I told some guys that he was holding onto the ball too long at least 5 times during the game and maybe more. And where did you guys see receivers covered. The television didn't show that much; any of you guys at the game? Did the commentators say that?

Daunte is becoming a statue out there....just like Drew Bledsoe. It is not going to get any better either. You hold the ball for 6+ seconds and you are etiher going to get sacked or get hammered and fumble it.

You gotta love the arm chair qbs. They could complete every pass from their recliner. This team has bigger problems than the play of the qb. When the line protects the offense moves.

Thank you! Some people just don't get it

Well, Daunte isn't the only problem, he's not even the biggest problem (that remains the OL) but he's a problem. He's Rob Johnson South right now.

Well said in general. I do believe that there are times that Daunte is holding the ball a bit too long. That is the one glaring thing that can be attributed to him. But the main problem is the line. He is the most sacked qb in the league right now and yeah holding onto the ball is a contributing factor. But the penetration opposing Defenses are getting vs. our O line is the primary reason we are failing on offense along with playcalling. Up to this point any stout line can bull rush us and get in Daunte's face without much of a problem.

I agree. There are plenty of other candidates to pick (Turstile McIntosh, Shelton, Mularkey) as being the biggest problem, but Daunte is not doing anything special either. The O just looks so tentative out there. We need to get this fixed soon, because the season could be in jeoppardy.

Bunch of BS about the OL.

I counted 3-5 seconds clean, 2 outa 3 snaps. After a 3 count the ball shoulda been gone or thrown away. This is on Pepper.

Do you think it's possible that the O-line could have been depending on Culpepper's running and that caused them to not work as hard? They knew he was hurt, but if he could escape now like he could 2 years ago, he could have easily avoided atleast 7 or more sacks this season. He is sooooo slow out there, it looks like he hasn't run in 3 years or is 200 lbs overweight. It is very bad.

But his indecision and apparant inability to read defenses quickly affects other parts of the game. When defenses know that he can't check off quickly, they blitz a lot more. I agree that the O-line is a problem. But at times when they look terrible, it's because the defense knows that Daunte's weakness lets them do extra things that they might not be able to do otherwise.

Lots of blame to go around, but you can't pretend that Daunte's weaknesses don't contribute to the poor play in more ways than one.

People are blaming Daunte today?

Is it Daunte's fault we ran the ball a grand total of 14 times against a team that was giving up 163 yards a game coming into today? 14 rushes in a game that was 6 - 3 through 3 quarters.

Is it Daunte's fault that we allowed the Texans to convert 5 of 8 third downs in the 2nd half? Two of the 3rd downs the Texans did not get were on running plays when they were trying to spin the clock so, in reality they were 5 our of 6 on 3rd downs. Incidentally they scored both their T.D.'s on 3rd down.

Is it Daunte's fault that Marty Booker drops a pass that would have been AT LEAST a gain of 40 yards, if not a T.D. That play would have gotten us points at the 3:00 minute mark of the 4th quarter and let us save our timeouts.

Is Daunte the one taking penalties on 2nd down, getting us into impossible 2nd and 3rd and longs?

Can Daunte block for himself?

The issues today? Giving up on the running game, penalties, poor offensive line play and not getting off the field on 3rd downs. It's the same old story.

Blaming Daunte today shows that some of you have no idea how to watch this sport.[FONT=&quot]

The same could be said about every team in the league. If you hold the ball for 5 minutes someone some where will get open. The problem is no OL in football can protect that long.
The bigger problem is the QB is not adjusting protection. Play after play you see the D overload one side so that it ends up being one player trying to block two rushers. That is the QBs responsiblity to get into another play. That is not happening and we are getting sacked play after play. NO OLMAN can block two players on a regular bases. We just played the worst defense in the last 5 years in the NFL and we barely put up one TD. That is just sad.
I hate to be added to the list of "the sky is falling" list but damn we just played the 3 worst teams in football and went 1-2. That has to put us in the running for the #1 overall pick next year.

Oh, I blame the OL (especially the OL), the defense, the playcalling...but I blame Daunte too. He is lost out there.

Exactly what do you think a QBs job is?? If you think at least part of the blame doesn't fall to Danute then you really need to stick to baseball. There is less to figure out in that sport. :shakeno:

I guess your brain = a stopwatch...? I swear, people who bash Culpepper for this loss obviously know very little about football
