The future is here, and Chad Henne(or Pat White) seems to be the direction that our team is going in.

My question is, while obviously he does not deserve the same status as Dan Marino and others, as a fan perspective, would Chad Pennington deserve honors up towards retirement of his number or other honors. By no means am i suggesting he has accomplished(or even been apart of) the feats that other Dolphin Qb's have had, yet he still had a drastic influence in where we stand in the present and the future.

he will be honored as not being one of the failed qbs since marino. anything else would be ridiculous.

Hell no. I'm not sure I understand exactly how he was extremely influential. Pennington managed the game but he never owned the game. He'll get a handshake on his way out and that will be about it.

Yeah we should 'honor' him but offering to let him stay with the organization as a QB's coach and possible future OC if he grows into the job. Outside of that I don't quite follow what you question is. What are you wanting to do throw a parade for him because he didn't suck? He played good one year and in his second we started 0-3 and he wasn't helping.

Don't get me wrong I like Chad and we may end up thanking him more for teaching Henne the ropes then for that divisional championship. (At least I hope so because that would mean Henne worked out)

Not even close, a one year wonder doesn't deserve such an honor. The guy was great for us but let's not go overboard here. L.Polite was great this year, if we don't re-sign him should he too be honored?

With Miami's recent history, the fact that he didnt suck in of itself should be considered a miracle. Hell, we might wanna think about giving him the key to the city for not costing us a second round pick.

Probably the factor i would look at much more then the division title. When i see players like Jeremy Shockey throwing hissy fits because they only sat in the owners box(while other injured players had to buy tickets to the game) during the superbowl, its impressive when i hear about Pennington breaking down gametape of upcoming opponents, then coming in and helping out our young QB's despite his injury.
