Its not a bad idea because he is due a roster bonus soon. The Packers would look like stupid if Farve decides to retire as soon as he receives the bonus.

If you retire after ya get a bonus you will have to pay back the part ya did not earn. It is called the Barry Sanders rule, and is pretty much standard in contracts as to not get burnt after giving a guy his bonus.

How ya think we got the judgement against Ricky when he retired? Same thing. I am not sure of the specifics of this contract stuff but Favre wouldn't get to keep that money if he would retire, only if he gets cut.
