Favre says loss in NFC title game will not impact retirement decision

Great, now we get to hear all of this retirement talk non-stop for the next few weeks. Favre will milk it as long as he can although I know he'll be back to pad his records a little more.
Meanwhile, they've had (1st rounder) Aaron Rodgers waiting for like four years and he looked damn good in the limitied playing time he had. I know Favre had a good year but he's as old as dirt, expensive, and he did cost them the NFC title game.

I know - that's the same thing I thought this morning when I read it. That's all we're going to hear about all offseason long. I understand that he's earned the right to retire on his own terms, but we do need to go through this every year?

Yes, because he's Favre and he's allowed to go on his own terms, just like every great quarterback has done so [Marino, Elway, Montana, Moon..].

He also is the reason why the Packers went as far as they did. Sure he didn't have a good game in the NFC Title game, but he's had a great season overall, for his age.

I still think he's got 2 good years ahead of him. The Packers will try to solidify the running back position, perhaps target a tight end as well in free agency, and they should be on their way back to the title game.

He won't retire.

It's really hard to guage when someone is going to retire, because he always says its about having fun out there. I think that he likes his situation now and the next season they have a below expectations year he'll call it quits.

So after the next season they don't make the playoffs he rides into the sunset like the gun slinger he is. Or if he happens to win a second superbowl.
