Am I the only 'Fin's fan who's just a bit annoyed about how Brett Favre is being treated in the "Twilight of his career" as compared to how badly Dan was treated when all he wanted was to play one more season??!!
I'm not a "Stats fanatic", but if Favre is ahead of Marino in any catagories, it can only be a couple, & anyone who claims that Favre is a better QB than Marino was should see a shrink.
What gives when LOTS of potential HOF QB's get basically "run out" of the league (Marino, Jim Kelly,Joe Montana) just to name a few, & Favre gets treated like Royalty??!! :dolphins:

I think he get so much praise is cuz he is kinda the last of the warriors if that makes sence?

something that bothered me was how many Dolphans were wanting him to come here knowing he would break Dan's record if he did. That's whats at stake for him...he knows given a season or two more HE will hold the record.

Everybody loves Favre cause he's a tough guy and has that endearing aw, shucks Southern thing going on.

Favre won a Super Bowl. Marino didn't. I think once he retires, we'll hear a lot of discussion of how Favre's one of the best---better than Marino.

Of course, that's a load of BS, but hey, everybody loves to knock Dan cause he never won a ring. I've come to accept that criticizm. People are stupid.

They are basically the same type of players gunslingers, loyal, Superstars..
I kind of hope he retires, I don't want to see anymore of Danny's records fall.

Funny arcticle muscle! I think Favre needs to retire before he embarrasses himself too bad. I'm a HUGE Marino fan and how bad did it suck to see his last game (I think it was his last) against the Jax ***uars. Worst game ever, although I wouldnt be too sad to see something like that happen to BF...

Not that I'm claiming I'm able to read Favre's mind, but the only thing that makes sense to me for him to drag out the decision would be if he wants to play next year, but just not with GB and, more specifically, behind their OL which got decimated in FA last year. That way, GB can't place him on the retired list and have to cut him, making him a FA, thereby relinquishing their rights to him. The main holdup for the GB FO doing just, however, are fans that would that would tear them apart (figuratively, that is) if they did just that, especially if he finds any measure of success elsewhere.

I think Farve is over doing it. He needs to make up his mind so the team can move on from there.

I agree with you.....I also believe that Farve wants out of GB in the worst way.....there is just no easy way for him to leave without causing a riot. Management has basically left the decision of him retireing or coming back up to him, although secretly I don't think they would lose any sleep if he did retire. One way or another he needs to make a decision.

I really like Favre. My opinion is that he should do what he thinks is best for him and his family bc I guarantee you the team is going to do what is best for them.

I think the difference between how Favre and Dan were treated is that the Dolphins head office and coaching staff clearly wanted Dan gone. I think the Packers would want Favre back. I also think that favre's skills have not quite dimished to the point where Dan was.

The people who have been on this board since the beginning and also the Dolphindigest( I think) board will recall the very heated threads about who should start, Dan vs Damon Huard, thats right Huard!

SB's are the most over rated criteria when judging a QB. So many variables have to fall into place for any team to get that far and a QB has very little control over most of them.
Saying a given QB is better than Marino simply because they have a SB ring is akin to saying Terrell Davis was a better running back than Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson or Gale Sayers.

I wasn't one of them. I never thought Huard was NFL caliber. Looks like I was right. Has he ever been anything more than a 3rd stringer since he left the Phins?

i dont know why favre would want to come back at all. the packers suck, they are going to have to rebuild for a while, like the 49ers. they have no defense to speak of, theyre RB got real old real fast last year and their top WR wants out. the only plausible reason favre wants back is records...either that or he wants to end his career like troy aikman (via LaVar Arrington)
