Fede: catching the eye

Would be insanity if we end up getting more production out of an unheard of 7th round pick than the guy we used our top 2 picks on last year.

comparing apples to oranges IMO. Fede is already 280. He plays the run well and gets good push or bull rush, but always falls short of getting to QB. He doesnt have Jordan's range. So he kind of has box 1 checked off in the coaches minds. Now rogers needs to work on some pass rush moves.

And another thought. Fede has been playing exclusively on the same side as Wake and Shelby. Someone moving behind #50?

btw, it must be more embarrassing that Atlanta's #1 defense couldnt stop us and we apparently are one of the worst teams in the league.

the look on Smith's face was priceless.

I heard Chris Perkins reporting on the Dolphins this morning on Sirius NFL radio. It was predictably critical. He sees no way that the Dolphins could possibly improve on 8 wins and is probably going backwards.
When they asked him to name a drafted player to look for to make an impact, I was expecting him to mention Jarvis Landry or JaWuan James solidifying the O-line, but the player that he raved about was Fede. As a big Dolphin fan I was shocked (my expectation of Fede is to just to make the roster, not even playing). Any thought of him becoming an impact player seems ridiculously optimistic.
Is Chris Perkins on crack or do others see Fede as being a potential impact player.

I just don't see how this team is going backwards... Our defense is built to play with a lead, so if offense takes only even a slight step forward we will be in playoff contention.

Hopefully Perk is a Perkyll and Hyde type because I tend to agree with a lot of what he says. He articulates what I see as the major problems almost perfectly and he's said recently that the defense could be great but Tannehill is the guy thats needs to step it up for the team to make some noise. So this statement coming from the guy that gets to see Tannehill everyday in camp is not good.

Highly disagree. With our LBs, the defense won't be great, maybe good...unless they can make bigger strides than Tannehill needs to. Yes, he needs to continue improving, but he is not by ANY stretch the weak-link in this team.

If he can ignore the LBs and criticize Tannehill, I can't take his statement seriously.

By some measures the defense has already been great under Coyle. Over the last 2 years they are top 5 in scoring defense along with Cincy, Seattle, Carolina and San Fran. And unlike those other teams we achieved that without a running game or basically any semblance of an offense whatsoever to help protect them. And our defense is hopefully only getting better.

If Tannehill can get us some leads with his arm once and a while it'll help our running game and our defense.

That's kinda putting the cart before the horse. Isn't the running game supposed to open up the passing game? I know it's more of a passing league now, but a good running game seriously helps the passing game (and did for all of those other teams you mentioned above). So, considering our O line and running game was far more deficient than our QB play last year, would they not have more need for improvement? You can't expect your QB to single-handedly improve every other area of the team.

Fede caught a lucky break when Dion Jordan got suspended because it opened up a roster spot for him. It doesn't look like he's going to let this opportunity go to waste, at this point I wouldn't even put him on the practice squad when Dion comes back, because I think another team will immediately snatch him up. We might have to carry 5 DEs this year.

I think that changed when Bill Walsh introduced the west coast offense to the NFL. Walsh used the passing game to open up the running game.

He won't get much playing time. He will be behind Wake...so, there's that....

He looks better than Jordan, but Jordan won't play much either with OV showing up in TC...and there is that whole 4-game suspension thing...SO, neither will see much time. Jordan will see a bit more, only because the team needs to find out if they just need to admit they screwed the pooch with this kid and move on...

Jordan looks like he can be a stud. Just let him play. LB or DE. Wheeler is garbage. You would think if you have a guy that can play then put him in. He is better than wheeler.

He didn't even look like he should make the team the other night. He in NO WAY looked like a stud.

It is easy for a guy to look good when he is put in for situational plays for special blitz packages (remember a few years ago when Roth went to Cleveland and they did the same thing with him for a few games and everyone here thought we were stupid for letting him go? How did do later as a down-to-down player?) Same thing with Jordan, I am not impressed with him as an every down player. Right now, he is going to have a hard time even getting playing time with OV doing welll...

Always factor in when Trash like Wheeler continues to plays, it's only because of money. Specifically what we are on the books for. If he's getting the money he's getting he has to play. Bad player, bad contract.

Don't think Philbin is either seeing as he was out there on special teams duty in the 4th quarter.
