A.J. Feeley made progress last year. By the Monday Night Miracle he was a much better quarterback than the guy who took the field in the seond half of the Titans game. But here is something to think about. In baseball terms Feeley was a .050 hitter in April. By September he was hiting .200. Thats four times better. Thats great to see and it gives you hope, but it does not make anyone feel real comfortable with him under center.

Now in his defense, who can blame him. His coach was too inept to pick a starter and give that person all the snaps, so the result was two quarterbacks who were unprepared.

Miami has enough talent to compete in every game because of Saban's wonderful use of the draft and free agency, but this team will only go as far as Feeley's right arm takes them.

I am a Feeley supporter, and I hope he earns the starting job early in training camp so that he is given a fair chance to sink or swim as Miami's starting quarterback this season. This is a kid with excellent toughness and leadership capabilities. Those are essential for any good quarterback to possess.

I agree with what you're saying. But this depends on IF FEELEY is the one who is in there. It may be how far Gus' right arm takes us. That has yet to be determined.

I dont think Feeley or Gus have to be great QB's for us to win....there are so many average QB's that have won the Superbowl....sadly, the greatest QB ever (Dan Marino) never won it....but that is another thread....I think as long as we can have a solid defense and a good mix in our offense (running and passing), than we give ourselves a chance every game. I think we can be a team like the Baltimore Ravens when they won the SB...ok QB, a great RB (Ronnie Brown can be our Lewis), and a dominant TOUGH defense,,,JT, Zach, Roth....we need to punish teams on defense.

A tough defense and an opportunist offense can get it done. This will be a much improved O next year. And like you said, it doesn't have to be spectacular. But I wouldn't be surprised if it LOOKS spectacular compared to last year. :D

I don't think the success of this team lies in one man's shoulder...The O-line has to prove Jay Leno wrong...The receivers have to get seperation and get open, and not drop too many balls...

Don't forget also that the defense has to put the offense on the field...So everybody has to contribute for this team to be successfull and Feeley would be only 5% of the puzzle.

Well said, I agree 100% with that.

I am pulling for Feeley because I liked some of the things he did last year and a lot of things he brought to the table was a breath of fresh air from having a quarterback like Fiedler. (even though he did throw a lot of interceptions, none of them were due to lack of arm strength like the Fied man. The greatest combination of bad decisions and weak passing). Plus the fact that he has personal responsibility and the fact that he was a tough guy.

Saying that he has a lot to learn and a lot to accomplish to being a good solid quarterback in the NFL. I believe that he has the ability. However having the ability and developing the ability are two different things.

If the quarterbacks play as bad as they played last year it will not matter that other facets have improved. That is what I mean by this team will go as far as Feeley takes them. If hte quarterbacks make poor decisions and are inaccurate we will not win many games, regardless.

I am happy Feely has improved, throughout the course of last season and I hope he continues to improve, however the performance of the O line will affect his or Gus' performance this year. Gus was brought in to push AJ lets hope he gives him one hell of a push as which has been the case with other QBs.

Our QB play in general, no matter who's manning the position, will be the key as usual.

I think there are two reasons why our QB's played as bad as they did last year:
1. No offensiver line....Feeley and Ears had no time to throw it, or even hand off the ball, and
2. Wanny constantly shuffled between Ears and Feeley and it was AJ's first year with us.....neither QB seemed to be able to much, and I blame Wanny for this just as much as not having a great O-line.

I agree that those situations may have had some effect, however, wedon't know for sure how much each layed into the poor play of the quaterbacks.

I think the 3 main keys for success for us will be a QB, OL, and Secondary. If those 3 factors go well, we'll be great!
