"Early word out of San Diego is that veteran QB Drew Brees will stay and second-year pro Philip Rivers could be had -- for the right price. For the Jets, that price could be three-time Pro Bowl DE John Abraham.

In a possible precursor to moving Rivers this off-season, the Chargers yesterday acquired QB A.J. Feeley from the Dolphins just before the trading deadline. San Diego also received a sixth-round pick. The Chargers want a capable backup behind Brees before dealing Rivers"

Jason Taylor???....

Not that I'd want to, but if the Jets are offering Abraham, Taylor would trump that offer. It's not like JT is getting any younger, and we'll have to replace him sooner or later. Maybe I'd do it, but I'm not sure if Saban would....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Not in our system that demands a traditional drop back pocket passer...

That crossed my mind too.Lemon was cheaper for the Chargers than Feeley will be.I dont understand the thinking.

Or a high draft pick.

So LT21, you have a pretty good line, right?

So AJ may not suck in San Diego and you got a 6th as well. hard to see how we didn't get schooled on this one in the same way we were used to with our old administration. Can you give any insight as to how Lemon goes better with Fish?

I was wondering about this also yesterday. Kind of a scratch my back I'll scratch yours situation. From what I've been reading so far trading AJ will free us up some cap next year, which may help facilitate absorbing the Rivers contract.
Maybe the Lemon kid has some upside who knows. I've got a hell of a lot more faith in Mueller's ability to pick qb talent than Wanspiel.
I'd like to see Rivers here next year, it's pretty clear QB is a serious need going into the offseason. Better to get started on it now.

There are 8 or 9 reasons why this Newark Star ledger article is full of crap. I'll give you 5

1) Dave Hutchinson wrote it. He's a Jet homer who picks them to win every week. He's a joke.

2) The Jerks have a salary cap mess coming.

3) Abraham is a FA next year. The jerks would have to sign him then trade him creating more cap mess.

4) They are on the hook big time for Penny whether he stays or goes. Adding another high priced QB won't be easy.

5) Hutchinson always writes these articles speculating how the Jests can acquire the best free agents and players. They rarely happen.

If we're giving up anything, it's gonna be a first.

Yes he would......we have got to get out of our heads(Phin fans)that certain players are untouchable......if there are players out there that Saban wants, I have no doubt that he will pull the trigger and make trades when it makes sense to do so. I am not attacking you brother because you said you would do it, and so would I.

He's not. The Dolphins dumped AJ, that is al that happened. This is not a TRADE this is a DUMPING.

hmm what if theres an understanding that come offseason we are offered up rivers for a pick and lemon? in other words they get lemon back and they end up using feeley as their 3rd stringer.

Untouchable..

Jason Taylor.. IS untouchable. He's not Abraham who's always on the DL for a nail being broken. Not for Phillip Rivers where we can draft our own bum QB.

AJ Feely is a $3.5M cap hit waiting to happen. Like HYDE said. We paid them to take him. If they cut him next pre season they lose nothing against their cap. Had we kept him... See the number above. In all it's really simple, and I'm positive we will aquire additional picks by April..

8 and 8 or bust people...
