Feeling around league is that Pouncey will be suspended 1-4 games

No way he should be suspended. No doubt he was involved in a matter that wasnt great, but the alleged victim was involved and giving as good as he got. So tell me, do they suspend Martin, Incog, Pouncey, McDonald? They were all willing parties, yet Incog and McDonald are saying that the report is flawed and important information was either diregarded or deemed irrelevant.

whats the bet if you get another investigator to look at the evidence, you get a completely different scenario...

Maybe they issue some fines to ALL players, buts where it should end.

This is such a joke. The union should be all over this and protect the players that Wells attacked. People need to take a step back. The media is making Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey to have been common criminals.

Might have been told to stand down that this isn't a fight they want to take on as this will set new league rules and policies.

Letting this all soak in over the past 24+ hours, I do think Pouncey will receive some sort of suspension, and I think the Miami Herald's league sources are right on the money. I think John Jerry will get a similar suspension that Pouncey gets.

Do they deserve to be suspended over this? Not really, but the NFL from a PR standpoint can't do nothing. Especially with them putting together new rules they need to have some sort of example of punishment. Jim Turner will probably be "relieved of his duties" and receive some sort of suspension himself. Phlbin has been cleared of any wrong doing, and I would be surprised if the league hands out a team fine or loss of draft picks. This will be all about new rules and making an example of a few players to scare the rest of the players in the NFL.

What more do the Miami Dolphins have to do to please the commish, league and public that they were serious about this situation once Martin made his claims? Now, you go and suspend one of their best players?

Steve Ross has made his mistakes, but ever since Martin stormed out on his team, Ross made it a point to make sure the situation was investigated and proper changes be made.

Again, what more does this team need to do?

I think all the team did since this came out and the praise Philbin and the franchise got in the report is why there won't be any franchise specific sanctions(team fine, draft picks, etc.). That is big when trying to please the commissioner. That is where the Saints and Sean Payton failed and why they were punished big time.

He would appeal in a second and all they have to go in is one persons opinion on the story and then what? You cant cost a guy that kind of money when you dont know the full story. You believe Martin and dont believe Pouncey so you say he lies and suspend him? its all opinion based no matter what way you try to swing it.

I doubt you see anything more than a fine against the team. Pouncey and Jerry will get suspended but I think two games unpaid is fair. Incog will probably get half a season, but I doubt he gets signed by anyone early anyway.

In the real world the company is responsible for all employee actions if ANY manager knew. Since it appears Turner and the head trainer were aware, I would guess Martin us going to get paid by Ross. I foresee that being a quiet transaction given Martin wants to play again and the Phins and NFL want this done with.

I don't see how Pouncey can be punished by suspension. If you suspend him, then you also have to suspend John Jerry and Jonathan Martin for the things they did and said. If Pouncey gets suspended, then the NFL is setting a huge precedent for behaviors that they can suspend players for, and that is a fringe behavior that cannot be uniformly policed by the NFL imo. We have to keep in mind that a lot of this stuff happened away from the team, and it wasn't illegal.

I think the NFL should just set some parameters for conduct, establish a protocol or hotline to report this behavior anonymously, and then call it a day and move on. Its probably also worth adding a class on conduct and respect during the rookie symposiums.

I ask again, what has Pouncey done that warrants a suspension?

Its never about the crime, its the cover up that ends up getting you.....

Pouncey could be in the biggest trouble if, as Wells believes, he did mislead NFL-affiliated investigators.

Beginning on page 12 of Wells’ 144-page report, he first says that he didn’t find Pouncey’s claims of ignorance regarding the abuse not “credible.”

Most specifically, Wells called into question Pouncey’s truthfulness about long-running insults directed at Martin’s sister. Pouncey told investigators that he never heard jokes among offensive linemen about having sex with Martin’s sister, and “if someone said that to me I would punch them in the mouth.”

Unbeknownst to him, presumably, Wells had in his possession a text message conversation in which Pouncey said he “would pay” for relations with his sister. Martin was part of the conversation.

Why this is important: the penalties resulting in the Saints’ bounty scandal were increased because the league believed key witnesses lied to them.

It’s unclear if the NFL will view Pouncey’s apparent trouble with the truth in the same light, however. While the NFL paid for Wells’ report, it was at the Dolphins’ behest. And so, one could make the argument that he was misleading his own team (which likely would have its own issues with it).
