If AJ Feeley is less than a rookie, then what was Jake Delhomme last year?
Delhomme's numbers in his first two starts last year:
21 of 43, 218 yards, 3 TDs, 4 INTs
Did Carolina pull the plug on him?
Matt Hasselbeck's numbers in his first two starts (2001)
29 of 58, 240 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs
Did Seattle pull the plug on him?
Heck, if you wanted to, you could look at Brady's numbers in his first two starts:
25 of 47, 254 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs
That's not the impressive Tom Brady you see today.
AJ Feeley needs time. He needs time to work through the mistakes he will naturally make due to his experience level. He needs time to throw the football. He needs time to get in sync with Chris Chambers. You don't pull the plug on a young quarterback this quickly, especially when it's very clear that he is not the biggest problem on the offense right now. Plus, he is showing flashes of what he can do when he has time to throw the ball, and his talent level suggests that he will reach a point of consistency where he does that all the time.
