All I have to say is we are not getting much of an upgrade if any at all.

A Reminder that Feely kicked indoors in Atlanta. Huge Advantage.

He also kicked in the swirling winds in New York. Huge Disadvantage.

I honestly don't know what to think. I kind of hate to see Mare go.

But Since Feely is here, I hope he is all that and a bag of chips.

I guess if you want to look for yourself go to CBS Sportsline and look at their Career Stats. Mare actually has a better Career FG% but hasn't topped 80% for like the last 4 years.

He is a better touchback kicker though, as we all know.

Not to mention, that Mare is the absolute BEST at onside kicks. No other kicker even comes close..............
Forgot about that. Can anybody find stats on onside kick % recovered. Miami % and NFL avg %??

If you take out the 50+ yard attempts, makes included Mare is 25-30 That is 83.3%. With that and his touchbacks I would say he performed. And for all of you knocking his 30-39 yard misses, remember no other kickers are kicking off of cement from that distance. That is what the infield dirt is like!

Ok, I have done some analysis since I corrected the Stats.

Yeah, but hopefully we won't have to do any 4th quarter onside kicks with less than a minute left... Mare may be the best in the NFL at onside kicks, but they are such a rarity they can't really be considered as anything but an "extra",and definitely not something that equates into an overall decision.

Anyway, the post/thread was a nice idea... too bad it didn't translate easily for us to read. Definitely not deserving of a 1 star thread... good effort.

Yeah, except that other K's didn't seem to have the same problem he did with it... maybe it's the predominant reason they decided to boot him. It'd make sense. I mean, not like the Marlins are leaving town any time soon, so we must find a kicker who can deal with different surfaces and environments. Feeley kicked in NY with their ridiculously swirly winds...

I still want Feeley. We needed a change and Mare refused to restructure like the ultimate team players Zach and JT have done over the years...

I seem to recall other kickers having problems kicking off of the dirt. They just don't have to do it 6 games a year to affect their stats.
