I really like Jason Ferguson's attitude. I love the veteran leadership he brings to the locker room and how he wants to set the example for the young guys. This is what veteran leadership is supposed to be, UNLIKE a certain SOMEBODY out in Hollywood who shall remain nameless.

I talked to Jason Ferguson late this week and related his thoughts about how good the Dolphins may or may not be in a column I wrote for The Herald's print and online editions.

Regardless of how you feel about Ferguson's view of the Dolphins -- he believes they can be pretty good in 2008 -- there can be no denying his presence on the team will affect the offensive line as well as the defensive line.

Ferguson, you see, will be practicing every day opposite second-year center Samson Satele and the hope is he can help the young offensive player improve just as he helped Kevin Mawae (with the Jets) and Andre Gurode (with Dallas) become better players.

Both have been Pro Bowl performers, by the way.

Not only Fergurson but Samson Satele will be going against Vince Wilfork, Kris Jenkins and Marcus Stroud six times a year. If he man handles these guys he should be considered a pro bowler, him been a pro bowler likely won't happen unless we start winning.

Agree totally. Of all the pickups we made in the offseason, I like this one the best. The big guy on the inside is the anchor of a defense. He will go a long way in helping us vs. the run, and allowing the pass rushers to do their jobs, which in turn will make our secondary better too. Ferguson goes un-talked about alot around here, and he probably is the best player we got through FA/trade in the offseason.

And you make a great point about veteran leadership.

Ok well when it's time for "YOUR" NEXT VACATION TURN IT DOWN AND STAY AT THE OFFICE AND HELP OUT THE TEMPS!!

a nose tackle can make a huge difference, supposively new england has said before vince wilfork is the most important player in that defense that has a lot of well known names. keith traylor back in '05 made a huge difference for the defense and the fins went from 4-12 to 9-7 so hopefully ferguson can help the fins make a turn around this year.

Well if I were in that situation and my company is on the brink of going under, had just suffered its worst year ever, has had a string of tough years, and I was the LEADER or RAN a branch of the company, you bet your *** I would turn down the vacation to help out with the temps.

Good point! I also proud of you for not somehow incorporating something about how John Beck sucks!

That's fine, just don't complain about disrespect when your employer doesn't acknowledge you or laugh at a joke when you come back.
