I have listened/read and even chimed in on these QB threads. I am beginning To think the majority of the Gus for starting QB is mostly. “Anyone but AJ†If they would have brought Fiedler in here this year as a qb that didn’t play here the last 4 years, you would be saying right now†he’s the better QB for winning now†he is a veteran that shows poise…LOL.. it’s funny because I don’t know anyone that thinks Gus is a good QB except on these boards. I live in Redskin/steeler/raven country. A lot of people around here have seen Gus from days gone by. My Business partner is a Viking fan. So he’s watched Gus for the last two years. I tell you what.. Everyone says the same thing, descent back-up NOT A Starter… what you’ve seen from Gus this exhibition season is what he is! And, the stupid interceptions will come when he plays full time. You complain about Feeley’s ints. Last year?...Just wait, Ferotte will make mistakes that will have you screaming.. and you will not look at any results and make educated assessments because you then would have to say…â€Âmaybe Feeley will be the better QB†It’s like several years ago when you were insisting that Ray Lucas should start. he got his chance and the moaning began. But by all means continue to argue all your points as to why Ferotte is better. Logic it seems has been thrown to the wind. I will not say Feeley is the answer or even he would be a quality starter, because I don’t know yet, but Gus is EXACTLY what he has shown so far for this team. He isn’t getting any better.

i'm not gonna argue with ya. thats a damn cold reality.:cry:

I too come from the DC area and saw Frerotte from the beginning. He's a career backup plain and simple. If you need 2-4 games out of him he can hold down the fort give 2 or 3 wins keep you in the hunt but over 16 games he is going to be exposed completely. I stated from the start that this guy is mediocre at best and people came at me with guns blazing saying "he knows this offense", yadda yadda yadda. I don't care how good a coordinator Lineham is, Frerotte is Frerotte. I don't see any point to play him over Feeley, at least Feeley has an outside, remote chance of being a quality starter, Frerotte doesn't.

yes, he also had Moss in Minn. when he had a 4-6 game run. I believe Culpepper broke a bone in his neck. He would throw the deep ball. Just as he has here except Moss would outrun/outjump everyone and catch what amounted to poor throws. all of a sudden he is "accurate with the deep ball"... Well that was the only time he was ever accurate.

We are stuck with a career backup no matter who starts!
yeah you might be right. but I know what Gus is. I don't know what Feeley is yet.

if Gus is throwing Picks to defenders that atleast don't go all the way for a touchdown, hes sadly doing better then feeley did last year.

that would be true..as in comparing last year to this year. but I haven't seen that from Feeley this pre-season. In fact I didn't see it his last couple starts last year. This is what I meant when I said Gus supporters are saying "anyone but Feeley". With that logic Many a great QB's would never play because they sucked their first year/years in this league. How can anyone keep arguing frerotte over Feeley based on last year? with all the crap that happened last year?. If Frerotte outplayed Feeley in this pre-season..OK he starts.... but again that hasn't happen except in the eyes of Anyone but AJ camp.

We've got a month before AJ takes over....Frerotten will start the first three games of the season, he will guide us to a blistering 0-3 record and then Saban will make the QB switch during our bye week so that Feeley has two weeks to prepare with the first teamers.

frerrotte= cannon fodder

It appears to me that the starter has struggled more than the backup, no matter who the starter is. When Gus has started, AJ's looked decent, and when AJ's started, Gus has looked decent. Why? Because their's a huge difference between playing against a first team defense and a second and third team defense.

IMO, neither Gus nor AJ has distinguished himself as a starter for this team. Saban will likely choose Frerotte because of a comfort level. Their is something to a veteran who knows the system very well, as opposed to an inexperienced kid who's brand new to the system. I'm not saying Saban's right, I'm saying Saban will do what he feels givesus the best chance to win.

If I'm Saban, I'd probably start AJ at first, but of course, it's not my job and reputation on the line...
