Few things I noticed off the bat listening to Philbin.

He seems to be a good leader already. I see him slowly right now building confidence in a few players ie matt moore, david gerrard, charles clay, slaton.... You can tell he kinda already has a good idea of who does what good and who needs improvement. He always talks about his system which is refreshing comparable to the prior regime who pretty much had one philosphy (run the bal but kept rotating the o line and wasnt even successful at it. He seems to be a more personable guy seeing him joking around with pat surtain on the finsider interview. Looks like you can pretty much trust him that he knows how to run things and be successful at it. I liked the way he spoke as if we were already in the playoffs..."Im thinking of naming team captains on a weekly basis and as we prepare for the playoffs let the players vote"...he didnt say if we make the playoffs he will let the players choose...all this guy knows is winning so this has to rub off and change the culture, im hoping atleast... what yall think?

Thanks man, great post. I get the same exact feeling when I see him speak or read his interviews. He reminds me of an old boss I once had who had a huge influence in my professional life. Kind of like your favorite teachers from school which we all have. You always remember the ones that guided you made it fun and challenged you accordingly. I really think this is what we got with Philbin. He will work with each player individually, not make false promises to them, work to each player's strengths, hide each player's weaknesses, motivate them correctly, and gain the players trust and hopefully the fans. He will respect them and he will get great play and discipline in return. I think the last coach we had will type of persona was PLEASE DON'T KILL ME Shula...We are way overdo fellow fans; let's keep our fingers crossed but so far I'm real excited.

Philbin is far more likable , whoa a HC who can actually think .. and with a far more focused and professional demeanor than that total putz & pompous Tony Sparano

the amount of people here who thought sparano was a great "coach" all because of a silly rah-rah post-game speech made me laugh

rah-rah waving pom pom's doesn't win nfl games. Great minds win games. Former players have stated that Shula never gave those Rockne like speeches to his team. He was a true pro always thinking and calculating his next move two steps ahead of the opposition, he had no time for that other nonsense and stupidity. You never saw Shula do those stupid silly acts we saw from sparano time and time again. As a fan of the team I was embarrassed to have that buffoon as our head coach. The guy was clearly WAY over his head to be a head coach in this league

Sparano was the Mr Potato head of HC's

He went to the perfect organization that embody his qualities (or lack thereof )
