Former Bucs, Dolphins, and Jets quarterback Jay Fiedler has taken up pro beach volleyball.

He made his debut Thursday and lost. The AP says "Fiedler retired in 2006," but he was making free agent visits as recently as last April. He finishes his career with a 69-66 TD to INT ratio and 11,844 passing yards in eight years. His best season was 2001, when Fiedler led Miami to the Division Round

Yea! he was no Danny, but he was the best QB we have had since him. The guy had alot of heart, and took us to the playoffs. Oh how I miss those days.

I don't miss those days one bit, I mourn over them.

Imagine where this team could have gone with the defensive core JJ built if we didn't have to suffer through Wanny, his inept coaching and drafting and his refusal to break his marriage with ears and bring in a quality starting QB.

Imagine where this team could have gone.
Those weren't the good ole days, those were days of waste.

As for Fiedler playing Pro Beach Volleyball.......
He's in for a big surprise.
Those boys can play and he probably thinks he's going into some class B sport he could just walk into and be good at.

I haven't played any tourneys in years and I would bet I could Spalding tatoo him right now.

I do miss those days cause unlike now with use to win. We won game last year and our last two coaches have done alot alot worst then Wanny. They were the good ole days, but we did use to win and there was some respect towards this team.

It's hard for me to describe how much i hated Jay Fiedler when he played here.

Yet it's harder to describe how much i wanted him back the SECOND we tried to replace him with who we have over the last several years.

nOT a good place for qbs. Even Danny couldn't win the big one for the dolphins.

Good news is he can't throw a Pick 6 in volleyball...

I wish him the best of luck though... He gave his heart to the Fins...

Wow i miss him ummmm did i say that :foundout:Yep he won games and i actually enjoyed waching my fins play.

Fiedler was a gritty QB, limited ability, big heart. You had to love him for all he brought to the table and the abuse he put up with. Blame Wanny for Fiedler's failings, but Fiedler did the best he could with what tools he had.

respecting Jay for being a good QB for us overall is one thing

But it's not "Blame Wanny for Jay's mistakes"

Jay Fiedler was a very inconsistent QB. He made MANY costly mistakes his key interceptions and fumbles were a disaster. He had a BIG role to fill after Marino left and he did the job at times admirably, but other times he was a trainwreck. I just cant believe no QB since then has been able to outperform him.

I dont expect anyone to out perform the toughness he brought, the leadership, the heart but how have we not found someone who could play better? It's mind boggling. In 2003 you couldn't pay me to say "at the end of the decade the Dolphins will have recycled through 8 quarterbacks worse than Jay Fiedler" not unless you told me they were all CFL guys or something.

.

its called not drafting a QB in the first 3 or so rounds in the last 7 years, that would do it

I almost broke my tv set a few times with Fiedler's sideline passes that almost always seemed to get picked off and run back for 6, but he won more games then lost for us, and I also agree he was the best QB we had since Marino. Seems like Jay is a little old to be starting up in beach volleyball but I wish him well.

With the way this team has drafted i doubt it would have mattered anyway. Trading a second round pick for a QB with six games of experience certainly wasn't a good way to go about filling the void though. :boohoo:
