Another field goal miss last week made me not only throw up but I wanted to know if the perception that we just can't kick field goals and at the same time our opponents make all of their field goals is true or if it's a false perception.

I'm attaching a PDF which on the first page shows the field goal percentage of each team since 2012. We're 31st in the league in kicking field goals in that time span with 77% successful field goal tries. Only New Orleans is worse. New England is 2nd with 91%. So far so good. That's what I had expected.

Now the 2nd page shows the percentage of good field goals when the team is defending the field goal try. We're 2nd best there. Teams are only converting 79% of the field goals against us. That's surprising to say the least. I had expected a number of about 120%. Right behind us is New England with 80%. That will explain some why they win so many games: they make their field goals and their opponents don't.

My conclusion is simple: Darren Rizzi needs to go. He can take Andrew Franks with him.

So in other words all things being equal, same field/same weather, Miami kickers are kicking at about the same rate as their opponents.

Can't get the PDF to work. Does it break down success rate by distance or do they lump a 7 yd FG in with a 42?

Seattle has been the best team over that period in NOT allowing touchdowns. So it figures they would have the highest FG percentage against. Bend but don't break defense doesn't allow TD's but sometimes gives up a lot of short FG's. Interesting data. I would have thought the percentage against us would have been much higher also. Baltimore is up there also. They have been hard to get into end zone against also over that period.

I don't know about you guys but nothing feels automatic about a franks kick

I think we are going to see in the data that on FGs 50+ our opponents convert at an alarming rate.

So in conclusion, Finkle is Einhorn....and Einhorn is Finkle?

Damnit....Laces out Dan! :cerror:

Sad but he's starting to give me that Sturgis feeling. Before he kicks nervousness and not confidence is what you feel.

Darren Rizzi knows how to pick 'em. Heck, he even turned Carpenter into a wreck. Now look.

Now that's a good question cause I can swear no one missed a 50+ yard FG against us...at least it feels like that.

No surprise we've sucked since 2012, it sure feels like it....and Franks is not the answer IMO
