Eventhough interest may be low for this game but for those who hope that Klinsmann will become the US Soccer coach this game is more than just "any" game.
German soccer fans are determined to keep Klinsmann and what better way to show the support than during the "little final". After all its in the city where everything for Klinsmann began: Stuttgart
He started his pro career in 1981 with Kickers Stuttgart and then moved to city rival VFB Stuttgart. He plaeyd there until 1989 and then explored the world. Its the city where he spend 50% of his professional life, a city where he still owns a little bakery (Klinsmann is a professional baker).
BTW, Germany was greeted like champions upon arrival in Stuttgart.
'
But Berlin will have the last word. On July 9th, the team will travel back to Berlin and will present itself on the "fanmile". Rather then heading straight into vacation, it was the team's wish to thank all german fans for their support. What better way to do it than on the world's largest gathering place for soccer fans. During the semi-final on 15 gigantic screens 950,000 Berliners watch the game there.
Berlin authorities expect as many people on Sunday. And since I know my Berliners they will find a special way to convince Klinsmann to remain German headcoach.
BTW, regardless if Klinsmann remains German coach or becomes the US coach. The only winner is FFiB: I root for both teams anyways.
