Great teams do the little things right, like gaining 1 yard when they need it.
They can tell you they are going to run behind their best lineman with their biggest back and there is nothing you can do about it. Lost in all the clamor over the Big plays and playmakers are the guys that gave you those three extra downs, 40-50 times a year. It is not only the great offensive linemen, it is also that rare combination of Cadence, harmony, and attitude that allow extra chances to wear down your opponents spirits and exhaust their wind.
Csonka, The Bus, Riggins, all exhibited the utmost confidence...I honestly don't remember Csonka ever being stopped from gaining that 1 yard when he needed it, and I don't want to. Reagan is starting his engines, and if this is the type of drive he's getting into, I'm happy to be along for the ride.
