For one we may be fighting Tenn for a wildcard spot and a loss now is no different then at the end as far as the W/L column. We all know how close some of these tie breaker situations can be.

Plus the quicker the Steelers close up their playoff spot the better the chances they sit starters in week 17. So the out come of this game could influence the end of or season greatly.

GO STEELERS!! (until Jan. 3rd)

I understand, and I agree we need to be ready for anything, but I am also not waving a white flag just yet on a 2nd straight AFC east title, just because Brady is back.

I'll be rooting for the Steelers, mainly because I have them in my pool this week, and I have their defense starting in fantasy... but this is a good point, and adds to why I'll be pulling for Pittsburgh tonight.

With all due respect....I think it is a little early to worry about who wins this game. Neither team is in our division and this game has no impact at all on the Dolphins at this time of the year.

MIA takes care of business they won't need to root for other teams.

We understand it's unimportant "at this time of the year".

The poster was referring to LATER (end of season).

And it absolutely DOES have an impact then.
His logic is solid, and I'll be a Steelers fan tonight....

I would agree with you if we accept the assumption that the Steelers will win their division and the Titans will be in the playoff hunt. And it is certainly a strong possibility, so at this point, if you're going to make an assumption, this would be an appropriate one.

But for all we know, the Ravens dominate and win their division, the Titans struggle greatly and have no playoff hopes, and the Steelers take our spot in the wild card. Just food for thought. I'll be rooting for the Steelers too lol.

not saying i disagree, but we could almost use the same reasoning to root for the Titans

The Steelers have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL. You want them to beat the very few tough teams like Tennessee tonight so they rest their starters at the end of the year when they play us.

Like they rested them last year, and lost late in the season.

On the other hand the Titans have a much tougher schedule.

Agreed. Though, I can't stand Pittsburgh & other teams from the northeast.

I do like Jeff Fisher. So, Go Titans!

Then you didn't read the thread. At the end when they add up the W's and L's it doesn't matter when you got em they count in the final tally. If you don't realize we could easily be fighting for that a spot with Tennessee then you don't pay attention to football. Of course this game has impact and while they may not play in the East they do play in the AFC.

I am so focused on Sunday when I saw the thread I was thinking oh I guess the Pitt Panters are playing the Volunteers:lol: I was thinking, well Dave wasn't such a bad guy lets pull for Pitt:lol: I'll probably tune in to some of this game. I'm not staying up and losing sleep over it. Steelers are the team to beat so hopefully somebody slows them down but then does that mean the Titans are even more of a contender in the AFC this year? The only thing I like about this game is one of them is going to lose. Its still early but I'd rather be thinking about homefield advantage rather than a wildcard. I plan on the Dolphins winning the division.

Theres a much better chance we would be fighting Tenn and not Pitt for a wildcard spot. But in the end you could be right, but I tend to go with the odds

Well of course not me either, the first goal is to win the division. But I'm still gonna cheer for other things to fall right as well if we don't get it. Thats just common sense.
