Final Cuts Shopping list?

I watched a few of the other preseason games in condensed format and I was impressed with the run defenses of both the Chargers and Lions, deep into the game in both cases. We should keep an eye on any LBs let go by those teams, IMO.

New England are totally stacked at RB, with Shane Vereen, Stephen Ridley, Branden Bolden, Jonas Gray and new 4th round Draft pick, James White (attracting big raps). There may even be others (I see a 255 lb RB named James Develin as well, but he's more of a Fullback). While Dolphin, Damien Williams looks pretty good as an UFA straight from Oklahoma, Jonas Gray could be better and Joe knows him. It could be amusing if Belichick tried to hide Gray on his Practice Squad.

Footnote - I see that there is some speculation in Foxboro that Bolden (3rd year out of Mississippi) may be vulnerable. He ran for 271 yards and three touchdowns and caught 21 passes for 152 yards last year. He's also pretty big at 221 lbs. He's never fumbled in 134 career touches.

Guard, guard, guard, guard, did I mention we need guards? Lb and more guards!

I would like to see Shelly get a better shot before making a move. I've only seen him in limited play with the 1st teamers but saw a few good pushes in the run game. For those only watching the Dolphins, a good push is when a guy on our OL actually pushes a guy from the opposing DL back from where he started on a running play. :)

I'm not sold on Mitchell. I would be looking for a DT. Also, it is clear our BU centers suck. Get a new one.

You have a decent dt on roster in rookie Anthony Johnson. I do like a couple of guys I am watching on the Bill's unit.

Carolina starting WR's are Avant, Cothchery and Benjamin. Wonder if we could try and swing some type of trade with them?

I don't think so. The problem is that even if we cut Egghead, we would still have 3 TE's ahead of him...and I don't think we will keep 4. Even though he is probably playing better than Lynch right now, I doubt they give up on him. Drafted players normally stick with teams in one form or another, and unless they really suck, some drafted where Lynch was should make the team.

I thought i Read some place that Lynch was down on the depth chart. I can see them keeping 4 TE's with Brackett being the 4th. I like what he brings and is big and quick. If egnew had his skills he would be our #2 right behind clay.

We need to be careful who we cut at TE because NE is short on TE's and they would probably pick one up when cut if for nothing else for getting some idea of our playbook.

on the other hand, I think BB is hiding this 6'8" kid I noticed in the draft from Coastal Carolina? East Carolina?. Jones is his name. Big Big red zone target. I was looking at him when looking at Sefarian-Jenkins. I would love to take this kid on should he be let go. He would be perfect for us should he have some blocking skills. very green though.

Lynch is down on the depth chart, but draft placement does matter historically. Few teams will cut a 5th round pick first year; therefore, I expect Lynch to make the team. It has nothing to do with whether he deserves it...same as Egghead sticking around even though he hasn't deserved it either.

Right now, is there anyone other than Clay that you would even care if NE got there hands on them...They can have Egghead...and the rest aren't that special. Not like we have Gronk playing for us...

I think Clay and Sims are locks right now after that we will see how things shake out. I like what I have seen from Brackett.

Our current starting center sucks too

I just hope he does good enough until Pouncey gets back....

The sad part is, Lynch hasn't done jack all pre season. He hasn't earned any right to make the 53 man roster.

I don't disagree. It is disappointing.
