Dolphins v 49ERS

21 Dolphins
24 49ers

I wanted to pick Miami but I have this feeling Kittle is going to set some records against us Sunday. I will change my pick if Tua starts based on nothing logical. I’ll just be so pumped I won’t care. Anyway.....

49ers 34
Dolphins 21

Without Garappolo I'm assuming something like...
49ers - 13
Dolphins - 17

I'd be shocked if SF loses two straight at home. I'm thinking Jimmy G goes next week and they're definitely better with him, we know that. My guess is the Tua era starts in Denver the following week.

SF - 27
MIA - 23

My preference is for Miami's next opponent to win big the week before, particularly a good team. I don't want them playing Miami with a bad experience the week before. Still, I expect another close game.

Prior week's result doesn't mean as much at home. If the 49ers were going on the road after a defeat they'd be energized. At home they could simply be stunned, and not as good as advertised. Consequently I was thinking last night that Miami has a better chance next week if the 49ers lost to the Eagles.

There's a system I've mentioned for a long time that an NFL team .500 or worse after 4+ games has a lousy spread expectancy if home favorite of -6 or more. 49ers at 2-2 are -8 range right now.

But again, this is the type of thing that wins long term, but not necessarily the first time applied. That's the difference I discovered decades ago between message boards and sportsbooks. When I would give out those angles on radio shows or to friends in sports books they would take note of it and play every one. Often I'd be thanked a year or several years later. "Remember that system you gave me? It's great."

It doesn't work that way online. Everyone overreacts -- either way -- to the first sample.

Dolphins should have good energy but it won't match the desperation of 0-2 at Jacksonville
