Best of Trades:
1. Miami Dolphins
The trades that were made, helped the team. Sending away Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, and David Martin for a huge upgrade at tight end in Heath Miller and a first round pick that lead to Branden Albert was great. Dropping from the 1st overall pick to the 7th round pick while adding Ellis Hobbs and Brandon Meriweather was huge. Dare I mention throwing out a 3rd round pick, Derek Hagan, and Greg Camarillo for none other than Larry Fitzgerald? Miami made trades that helped their team only which is why it tops the list here.

2. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys made plenty of moves such as sending TO away, but bringing him back for what I felt was less price. The Cowboys made the right trades to help their team and that's all that matters.

Best of Free Agency:
1. Tennessee Titans
I felt that my team did a great job in free agency, however I wish I didn't have to actually vote for myself here. Bringing in Drayton Florence for 2.5 mil was huge as he probably should have went up in the 5-6 mil range. Jacob Bell was a good price at 2.5 mil as I thought he was the second best guard in free agency behind Faneca and having him return is always a plus. Greg Spires, Cornelius Griffin, and Seneca Wallace were brought in for fair prices and I grabbed a few Titans from last year at a cheap price such as Ryan Fowler and Randy Starks.

2. New Orleans Saints
The Saints looked at their needs and just made sure they got what they could. They got the best defensive tackle in the free agency pool in Corey Williams and made some very bargain bin deals with a few players. Getting Takeo Spikes and Keith Brookings at 2 mil were steals, as were signing Simoeau and Leftwich for 600K or below. One of my favorite signings from them would be Brian Williams for a mere 2 mil simply because the way some corners were going as far as price tags go.

Best of Draft:
1. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings made some nice selections in the draft and even though some of them were considered reaches by where they went in the NFL Draft, I still think they had the best draft. Getting Glenn Dorsey, Mike Jenkins, and James Hardy were great and nabbing Duane Brown in the 3rd round is very good. The Vikings brought in plenty of talent that I think was worth the price of dealing away Adrian Peterson, a running back that had one good year but could not stay healthy throughout the season.

2. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins made plenty of good selections and they made sure that they would get the value guys. If the value guys weren't there then they would use the Patriots approach and trade down. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Branden Albert in the 1st round were great picks and Lawrence Jackson and Joe Flacco were steals in the 2nd round. They addressed their front seven even more by selecting Shawn Crable and Frank Okam, both good picks in the 3rd round.

Trade of the Year:
1. Adrian Peterson for Adewale Ogunleye, #4, #30, and #78 draft selections (Min/Oak)
The original AD trade. Sending him away for two first round picks and a 3rd round pick is amazing. Adding Adewale Ogunleye to the mix? Astounding. These picks lead to Glenn Dorsey, James Hardy, and Duane Brown. So who would you rather have? Dorsey, Hardy, Brown, and Ogunleye? Or just Adrian Peterson?

2. Adrian Peterson and Devin Hester for Wes Welker, #1, #69, #114, #119, and #159 draft selections (Oak/NE)
The AD trade part two. Basically Peterson was traded for McFadden and Welker was traded for Hester. The Raiders received the extra drat picks as compensation. This seems like a fair trade as well. #69 was used for ILB Beau Bell and the other selections were used as trade bait in other deals.

Free Agent Steal of the Year:
1. Justin Smiley (Rams @ 950K)
Alright... How does Justin Smiley go for under one million? It makes me wonder why I decided to put a 2.5 mil price on Jacob Bell right away... Nonetheless, getting Smiley at this price was a steal. I don't know how he went for this cheap or why, but props to the Rams on this one.

2. Drayton Florence (Titans @ 2.5 mil)
I already explained most of my reasoning earlier, but getting Florence at this price was nice with what other cornerbacks were getting in free agency.

Draft Steal of the Year:
1. Jerod Mayo (Bills @ #42 overall)
Jerod Mayo shot up the draft boards of many teams and the Bills grabbed a top ten player in the 2nd round.. Not even an early 2nd round pick, it was more of a mid 2nd round. A very nice selection by the Bills that deserves major props.

2. Joe Flacco (Miami @ #55 overall)
schisno wasn't as big of a fan as Brian Brohm like some were, so instead he looked to take Joe Flacco out of Delaware. Flacco went in the 1st round and the Dolphins grabbed him in the late 2nd round. He traded up to get him, but there wasn't any real danger of anyone taking him. But don't let that fool you, I know someone last year who thought that JaMarcus Russell would fall to them with the Cardinals ahead of them... Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner? They won't take Russell... Wrong.

Rookie GM of the Year:
1. Smoke (Ravens)
I liked what Smoke did to his team with the shape it was in early in the season. He brought in some good players and got rid of the aging ones. Overall Smoke turned an old Ravens team into a much younger and more competitive team.

2. Skeet84 (Buccaneers)
Skeet made some nice trades and some great draft picks that helped a playoff team possibly turn the corner into a Super Bowl team. Devin Thomas and Felix Jones in the 2nd round were nice, as were Justin King and Mike Pollak in the 3rd round. Bringing in Larry Johnson, KBG, and Patrick Surtain were good veterans that will help this team without question.

Most Improved GM:
1. Straztheman (Lions)
I'm not going to lie, Straz made some stupid trades last year that made me wonder what was going on in his head... This year Straz turned the corner and sent away some players and brought in some even better players. I liked what he did with the Lions this year and think he deserves to win this award.

2. Sean (Steelers)
Last year Sean continued to make trades to just make trades. This year Sean's gameplan changed as he seemed to have a set roster in mind throughout the year. He brought in good starters, good depth, and definitely improved this year.

GM of the Year
1. schisno (Dolphins)
I know schisno knows what he's doing, but what he's done to the Dolphins really looks good. He made some trades that really helped his team, brought in some street free agents that look to serve the team, and drafted very well. He kept the right players and got rid of the right players. He added a lot of very good players as well, bringing in both Larry Fitzgerald and Marvin Harrison while throwing Ginn in the slot should make life easy for whatever quarterback is under center. Ronnie Brown will be returning and he revamped the offensive line into something that I could only dream about. The defense still needs some work, but we wanted our defense young and we got it. I'm very impressed with the secondary and I think the Dolphins greatly improved this year.

2. TractorTraylor (Rams)
TractorTraylor quietly put together a good team, adding a few players that would help his team through trades and having a solid draft. His offensive line he put together will help Steven Jackson return to form and added Kevin Curtis back to the squad for a cheap price. The defense looks pretty good with the additions of Chris Long and a few others. I seen what the Rams had the beginning of the year and I really felt sorry for them to be honest. I was very surprised at the end of the year to see how much work TT actually did with this team.

3. Saint Greg (Saints)
Another team that quietly made the right moves. Saint Greg kept the guys that he needed to keep while adding a lot of great players where he needed to. The Saints won't be run on anymore by adding Corey Williams, Fred Robbins, and Kentwan Balmer. The linebacker corp looks a lot better after the additions of Keith Brooking and Takeo Spikes. Don't forget one of my favorite FA pick ups in Brian Williams at corner. I really liked what he did with the offense as well by drafting Ryan Clady, Harry Douglas, and Paul Smith. Andre Davis was a quiet pick up as well. The Saints made the right moves that make them even more competitive.

Honorable Mention: sports24/7 (Bills)
I wanted to throw this GM out there because he made a lot of moves to help out his team. You look at what he did by adding Andre Johnson and Javon Walker to help out his young quarterback and adding some depth to the offensive line that was already pretty good. Marshawn Lynch will be returning to the Bills as well, but what impressed me was some of the pick ups on defense. He added Kelly Gregg, Dewayne White, Demorrio Williams, and Jerod Mayo in the front seven quietly... That's not all though, bringing in Chris McAllister at cornerback is a definite plus as the Bills now have their number one corner. I really liked the Bills moves this year (rarely you'll hear me admit that..) and I think they deserved some recognition.

Best of Trades:

Detroit Lions

The Lions had a couple big blockbuster moves, they started off their offseason by landing a good pass catching TE in Watson, and a versatile ProBowl D-Lineman in Seymour not to mention the best third down, big catch back in Kevin Faulk not to mention Donte Stallworth. For basicaly a couple key parts in Fernando Bryant and Roy Williams.
He also had another big move with the Gore/Willis deal for Calvin Johnson/Kevin Jones which is a steal to get back a Defensive Rookie of the year who can man the middle linebacker spot for years as a Pro Bowler and Gore is a much better back than Kevin Jones. Of course the only problem was giving up Johnson, but he got Plaxico in another deal. All in all he added some key components and replaced some positions with more than servicable players.

Houston Texans
I think there were some decent moves here mainly involving CBs, I agree with his trade of Dunta Robinson for a young LB in Timmons but to move an emerging one like Fred Bennet who could have played opposite Nnamdi Asomugha was a bit iffy. All in all he didn't do anything crazy like trade away a franchise QB (No Matt Schaub isn't one) and destroy too much chemistry.

Best of Free Agency:
New Orleans Saints

Quite possibly the best defensive free agent class in the league headline by starting LBs Takeo Spikes and Keith Brooking, as well as DT Corey Williams. His corners were upgraded a great deal with Corey Webster and Brian Williams. He basically went out and bought a starting defense...a very good one.

Tennessee Titans
This choice was based on smart economical decisions like getting Drayton Florence for 2.5 Million with the escalating salaries of corners. He also managed to bring back some good players for the league minimum like Randy Starks. Greg Spires should be a key veteran signing for 300K. He didn't over spend and got some steals and managed to keep his roster consistent with key resignings along the line like Jacob Bell and Daniel Loper.

Best of Draft:
Houston Texans
Very good draft down in Houston, they got the most complete back in the draft with Jonathan Stewart, after Mendenhall who happened to slip in the real draft. Also Chris Williams is a solid choice to play LT (better than Duane Brown). They filled some pressing needs and got a real steal with Kevin O'Connell who I myself loved in the fifth or sixth round if I had a pick there. He is big and mobile and will be something down the line.

Miami Dolphins
I hate voting for myself but I thought I did a good job in the draft with 4 first rounders in the first 55 picks. Shawn Crable is a solid third rounder who will end up being a good OLB in the 3-4, plus Steve Slaton should be a steal in the fourth and even my UDFA got signed the next day. It should end up being a very good draft class.

Trade of the Year:
Tom Brady, #73, and #191 draft selections for David Harris and #6 draft selection. (NE/NYJ)

My pick for trade of the year because the Jets hurt an AFC East Rival and picked up a franchise back who is in his prime. So they gave up a young linebacker, it's easier to find a LB than it is to find a QB who can win 3 Superbowls.

Patrick Willis, Frank Gore, and Darrell Jackson for Kevin Jones, Calvin Joshson, and Daniel Bullocks (SF/Det)
This is more or less based on the Lions getting a steal with a top 10 back and corner stone to their new defense.

Free Agent Steal of the Year:
Drayton Florence (Titans @ 2.5 mil)
Florence really went under the radar here and was a steal for his signing price. He should have been bidded up to the 5-7 million range.

Calvin Pace
Yeah this is a right in, but seriously how does this guy get signed for under 2 million. I don't know how DeShaun Foster made the top 5 when Calvin Pace clearly had more nominations. Here's a guy who had a very good year and had a big contract coming his way which he got from the jets but got snapped up in our league for the best value overall out of all the free agents.

Draft Steal of the Year:
Joe Flacco (Miami @ #55 overall)
A first round QB, and the second to go at #55, and I think that was after moving up a few spots to make sure he was mine.

Jerod Mayo (@ #42 overall)
Yeah a top 10 pick drafted a round later. Big time steal.

Rookie GM of the Year:
Phinzone (Patriots)
I hated a lot of moves based off continuity and chemistry, but on paper it is a very good offense and good defense. On paper. He was also very active and made some attention grabbing trades, a good first year for a GM.

Smoke (Ravens)
Sort of the opposite of the Patriots, the Ravens had some solid and quiet moves. They put together a strong roster with little fanfare or attention. If he made some eye browsing moves maybe he'd find himself the top rookie GM.

Most Improved GM:
Straztheman (Lions)
Had some really good moves and did some nice things with his team. He made a jump from last year to this year. Props for what I think was the trade of the year.

adamprez2003 (Panthers)
Another guy that didn't get a lot of press, but got some steals in the draft and did enough to elevate the Panthers to the team they should be, compared to the past couple seasons.

Rookie GM of the Year:
Skeet84- Skeet didn't make a lot of huge moves but made plenty of solid ones. He did an excellent job in free agency and also fielded a very solid draft. Good roster up and down with nice upgrades at biggest areas of need. Also loaded with some good depth.

Smoke- It's lame to vote for myself but I think i've earned it. I was in salary cap hell with a roster full of expensive 30+ year old players. I was able to shed almost $30mil in cap space while also bringing in an abundance of quality young talent. I think I did a good job of rebuilding while still staying competitive.

Most Improved GM:
Straztheman- I was really impressed with what he was able to do. I think his trades were top notch, he had a quality draft, and really improved his roster.

GridIronKing- He did a great job upgrading skill positions which will really benefit Vince Young. He made well thought out moves through free agency and got some steals. The same goes for his draft. Nice job adding quality depth as well.

2) Grid Iron King

Best GM
1) Dolphins - Did an amazing job on offense and the secondary while maintaining a pretty good front seven. Awesome job considering what he had to work with
2) Chiefs - On first glance I was ready to skip them over but when going over their entire roster, first second and third strng, I think he put together a complete team and considering what he had to9 start with it was a truly impressive feat. Not the flashiest names, probably one of the more subtle jobs done, but I think he has alot of players that are going to be heard from in 2008
3) Giants - Gotta say, while the teams were being built I thought he lost his mind but looking at the finished product, he did a great job. Adding Keller and revamping that secondary while maintaining the core of a SuperBowl team, one of the best jobs done this year

honorable mention: Titans. Did a great job of getting Young some weapons. It was a tough call and if he had one extra player he might have won it all. It was that close.

P.S. Great job overall guys. loved the writeups and effort. You guys really know you're football. Really dont feel there were any losers this year. Had a great time too.

Miami Dolphins - Got a very good WR in Fitz
Honorable Un-nominated mention: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Best of Free Agency:
Miami Dolphins - Very good deal in Harrison
New Orleans Saints - Upgraded the defense heavily

Best of Draft:

Miami Dolphins - Could not find any faults
Honorable Un-nominated mention:Cleveland Browns

Trade of the Year:

Rookie GM of the Year:
Skeet84 (Buccaneers) - Made fair trades that benefited all, chose wisely in FA and draft.
Phinzone (Patriots) - Made a controversial move that most rookies wouldn't make.

Most Improved GM:
adamprez2003 (Panthers) - Gave his Panthers a solid WR crew, something lacking from the previous year
