Welcome Paul Solilai! I've been saying it for years: Miami needs a young NOSE TACKLE to develop. Remember back to the days of Chester and Bowens? When those two were healthy and occupying blockers, we had one of the league's best run defenses. A streak of 18 games passed without us allowing any one single runner to reach the century mark in a game. Traylor has one season left here, and none of the young DT's, (though promising), are true 3/4 Nose Tackle prospects. Paul Solilai gives us a VERY big young man to develop. Will he pan out? He certainly has enough solid veteran d-linemen to learn from, and a fantastic coach in Dom Capers. The ONLY way this defense continues to play at a high level is with the presence of a BIG body in the middle. Lamar Woodley was the only other defensive player that I had hoped for in this draft; but one of two ain't bad. Don't know about the rest of you, but the Solilai pick makes me very happy

I'm hoping he pans out, if he and Manny Wright work then our D-line will be young and sick. Roth, Wright, Solai, and Rod Wright could be one tough front four. Of course thats a big if but the potential is definitely there.

If a fourth round pick doesn't make the team that would be pretty bad, especially with the talent that was still on the board at that pick.

quite honestly i thought our NT of the future was already on the team in Fred Evans..but getting Solai makes that different..but if Traylor goes down which i hope he doesnt look for Salai and Evans to split time there

Oh, I loved the pick! I wanted either him or Tank Tyler this year. We desperately needed a young stud NT. Between him and Big Fred... I think we are set at the NT position for a while...

I think Evans is more of a penetrator... and Solilai is more of a clogger. We can use the 2 in different situations...

Our second best draft pick IMO. As long as this guy can stay/get in football shape and keep his head on straight, then there is no reason he shouldn't see a decent number of snaps this year.

This is the huge young 3-4 DT we have been waiting for. He will replace Traylor after this year.

Great Pick

Biggest guy at the Combine and he's got a great motor. This was a great value pick for us.

Soliai is huge! He should be take over when Traylor is done, and Manny Wright will back him up I'll bet. Fred and Rodrique are not quite as big. Maybe they will inherit Vonnie's spot?

The 3-4 defense requires a massive NT that clogs up interior offensive linemen and keeps them off the LBs.

The problem with running this kind of defense in Miami... is that massive NTs dont do very well in the Miami heat and humidity. We need to rotate the big guys, and drafting Solilai allows us to rotate him and Evans at the NT spot in the future...
