Finatic8480's Final 53-Man Roster

We will not have 6 receivers if one isn't Livas. We will hardly play 5th and 6th receiver anyway. I'm pretty sure that we keep Livas--he's an outstanding all around returner and does all the right things, even though he didn't get to return any kicks today. I go with Moore over Wallace--however I'm not sure that is going to happen.

Devlin for sure. He will be our next solid quarterback--you may laugh, but you heard it here first.

We should keep Brackett--may not happen though.

I don't see why we need Hilliard and Johnson. I'd rather keep one of them and Grigsby.

QB - Henne, Moore, O'Connell
RB - Bush, Thomas, Johnson, Hilliard
FB - Polite, Clay
WR - Marshall, Bess, Hartline, Gates, Wallace
OT - Long, Colombo, Murtha, Garner
OG - Incognito, Carey, Feinga, Jerry
C - Pouncey
TE - Fasano, Mastrud

DE - Langford, Starks, McDaniel, Odrick, Merling
NT - Soliai, Fields
OLB - Misi, Wake, Taylor, Alama-Francis, Trusnik
ILB - Dansby, Burnett, Spilter, Edds
CB - Davis, Smith, Sapp, Allen, Wilson
FS - Jones, Clemons
SS - Bell, Culver
K - Carpenter
P - Fields
LS - Denney

Similar to what I have. Am on the fence as far as Spears and Trusnik go.

Pretty much agree except I don't think they keep Fields, Starks and McDaniel can play NT, if they decide to keep 7 it will be baker over field, imo. Also I think Mitchell makes it over Spitler, simply because he can help in the base defense right away and play special teams, where Spitler is only a special teams player at this point. I also think they are going to try to find a way to keep Moore and Carroll, Culver has been rumored to be a bubble player and I don't think they are going to go with three QB's so they could use those to spots although we would be painfully thin at Safety.

Marvin Mitchell Dosnt look.or seem as strong as Spitler.Keep.the guy who knows the defense better with more size in.Spitler

Play both cb & s badly imo...Culver stinks. Cut him.

I really think you guys are missing out on this Livas guy. Hes going to make the roster IMO. I also see Kearse making it over Fields, unless they want to try and stash Kearse on the PS, but I think he makes it.

yeah i havent been impressed with fields. he seems slow and a little out of shape. I almost want to keep Kearse instead. If he goes on PS, Steelers or someone will take him.

Reggie Bush is our 5th WR people. Thats the beauty of this offense. That dude will going in motion and lined up wide. It might be good to trade players with teams for other RB's, OL, TE

I want Kearse, Mitchell, and Sapp to make the 53. Bye-Bye Carroll and Fields although I realize Fields is Nolans guy.

I thought Allen was a goner but he has proved he can still play. At $1.5M, that's good money for a veteran corner.

I don't believe Livas is going to make it.

5 OLB's and 3 ILB's with Trusnick....uh uh....replace Trusnick with Mitchell. And if we keep 6 WR, replace MM with Livas.

I still have to review last night's game, but here is where I was leaning prior to it:

QB: Chad Henne, Matt Moore
Note: Pat Devlin should clear waivers and be able to practice with the team from the practice squad.

RB: Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas, Lex Hilliard
Note: Not sure Larry Johnson or Nic Grigsby have done enough to make me want to put them on roster.

FB: Lou Polite, Charles Clay
Note: You can't cut Polite because he's still the only capable lead blocker.

TE: Anthony Fasano
Note: Nobody behind Fasano is truly worthy of an NFL roster spot. The Dolphins should claim a guy off waivers or trade for someone, preferably from Green Bay or Arizona.

WR: Brandon Marshall, Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Clyde Gates, Marlon Moore, Phil Livas
Note: Roberto Wallace has never done anything to impress me. Ever. Moore has. Livas has some rare qualities you need to focus on keeping a part of your team and developing. Merling should be traded if anyone has an offer on the table, but if they don't (and I don't think anyone does) then he's a cut. He's really not very good. Highly overrated based purely on draft standing.

OL: Jake Long, Richie Incognito, Mike Pouncey, Nate Garner, Lydon Murtha, Vernon Carey, Marc Colombo, Joe Berger
Note: These are probably the only roster-quality guys, but the Dolphins should focus on finding someone off waivers to replace Carey and/or Colombo

DL: Kendall Langford, Paul Soliai, Randy Starks, Jared Odrick, Tony McDaniel, Ronald Fields, Ryan Baker
Note: Baker too valuable to be cut. Fields is in direct competition with Kearse for a roster spot and thus far Fields has impressed me more but I still have to watch last night's game.

LB: Cameron Wake, Karlos Dansby, Kevin Burnett, Koa Misi, Jason Taylor, A.J. Edds, Jason Trusnik, Quinton Spears
Note: Spears has been too valuable to cut. Guys like Spitler and Mitchell are a dime a dozen. You can sign one if you get into trouble injury-wise.

DB: Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Chris Clemons, Yeremiah Bell, Benny Sapp, Reshad Jones, Tyrone Culver, Will Allen, Jimmy Wilson, Nolan Carroll
Note: Nate Ness is on the outside looking in as it sounds like Will Allen returned from injury and performed well. Unfortunate for Nate.

ST: John Denney, Brandon Fields, Dan Carpenter
Note: Nothing's changed here.

You'll notice I've listed only 50 guys. That's not a coincidence. I believe there are only around 50 or 51 players on this roster that are truly worthy of an NFL roster spot. I realize that having only Anthony Fasano and Charles Clay able to play the Tight End position is too few. That's why I would claim at least one Tight End off another team's roster. The Packers have five of them and are not likely to keep all five. I would take whichever guy they cast out, as all five are very talented. I would also look at Jim Dray and Stephen Spach in Arizona. I don't know who they should claim on the OL, but they should claim at least one of those in order to bring the position up to nine spots. That leaves one roster spot remaining and I would just grab the best player you could from among tailbacks and inside linebackers. You could also use that last spot to keep Merling for a short while if you're bent on trying to trade him. I think that effort would be futile, but he can at the very worst hold a roster spot until you find guys on the waiver wire that are more worthy. At tailback I've talked about DuJuan Harris and Joique Bell before, I would take a look at those guys, if Tashard Choice gets cut I would take him as well. I'm not sure who among ILBs could be cut that would send me clamoring for him.

The more positions a player can play the better chance he has of sticking with our team. Simple as that. A guy like Hilliard who can play RB, FB & Special Teams will make the team over Polite, the same can be said of Clay. I want nothing more than for Polite to stay, but Fins have two other players that can play his position and LJ did not help Polite chances last night either.

I know Berger is expensive, but Jerry ahead of Berger, CMON MAN! Jerry has been horrible and atleast Berger is solid, has started and gives you position flexibility.

Ryan Baker makes this team, the guy can play DE, NT & serves as a blocker on kick returns & FG attempts. He also has completely out played Merling and is tied with Trusnik ( who has had a great preseason ) in sacks for the team lead. Baker finished the preseason with 9 tackles, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery. Fields & Merling could be the odd guys here.
