Ok, i was bored today. Here are two scenarios that most likely could happen during the draft...

Rolando McClain off the board before we pick

And we can’t find anyone to trade down with…

1. Dez Bryant WR OK State – with McClain gone and no possibility to trade down this pick makes the most sense for now.
2. Brandon Graham OLB Michigan – With Mike Nolan on board, he has all the potential to be this year’s version of Elvis Dumervil.
3. Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky – this guy is all over the field, would easily be our best LB for years to come.
4. Larry Asante SS Nebraska – Clemons is being groomed to play FS, it’s time to find an heir apparent for Yeremiah Bell, we will need one down the road.
6a. Jimmy Graham TE Miami - very athletic TE, will provide a nice target in the middle.
6a Taylor Price WR Ohio – Good size/speed ratio 6’1” 212 with speed 4.4 range.
6c. Jamar Wall CB Tex. Tech – very physical CB (I love physical DBs), will provide good depth and special teams play.
7a. Brad Philips S N.Western – quality depth player, and special teamer
7b. Ryan D’Imperio ILB Rutgers – decent size, another quality depth player

Big Free Agent Signings

1. Vince Wilfork or Casey Hampton
2. Tony Scheffler

Key Re-Signings

1. Ronnie Brown
2. Chad Pennington - only if he understands that he is competing for the starting spot. If he does not like that, then we move forward with Tyler Thigpen as our #2.
2. Davone Bess
3. Lousaka Polite
4. Anthony Fasano
5. Nate Jones

And we are able to trade down with Cinn or Balt (two teams looking at WR), we get their 1st & 3rd picks.

1. Dan Williams NT Tennessee – There is a chance he could be off the board before the Cinn or Balt picks. And If that is the case, then I would draft Terrance Cody which would not be a popular pick with me because I’m not in favor of drafting a 2 down NT in the first round, but he would form a great rotation with Solai.
2. Mardy Gilyard WR Cinn – WR with playmaking ability, also a pretty good return man.
3a. Sergio Kindle OLB – High motor, can pressure the QB and cover the field sideline to sideline
3b. Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky – this guy is all over the field, would easily be our best LB for years to come.
4. Larry Asante SS Nebraska – Clemons is being groomed to play FS, it’s time to find an heir apparent for Yeremiah Bell, we will need one down the road.

I think Wilson will be a good SS. I know everyone here hates him, but I like how he plays around the line of scrimmage.
 
I doubt we trade down over 10 spots to add a 3rd round pick, there would have to be more compensation. Scheffler is restricted, Wilfork would be a dream and if we went A.Bryant in FA why on earth would we select another WR in the 2nd?

I'd love to trade back and get another 2nd atleast and hopefully E.Thomas FS is still available. I also think we need multiple OLB's, Taylor and Porter need to be replaced eventually so we need to start prepping for that now.
 
I'd be ecstatic over an offseason that gets us Wilfork or Hampton, Sheffler, Dez Bryant, and Micah Johnson. I wouldn't try to re-sign Pennington though unless we are going to release Pat White. I actually like Thigpen and think he can play if Henne went down. I also don't want a QB competion in the offseason. Can we just for once go into an offseason knowing who the QB is so he can take all the reps with the guys he'll be playing with on Sundays.
 
I just don't see Brandon Graham making it to the 2nd round. I believe he could go in the 15-20 range. I like your mock, though. Would be great to get both Dez Bryant and Brandon Graham.
 
That first draft scenario would certainly make my pee pee go BOING!

If that happens, look outside your neighborhood for some random guy doing cartwheels on the street.
 
i like the first scenario as well - although i'm not sure what we'll do at the FS position. i don't know if clemons is ready yet.

Actually, I used a draft pick value calculator I found online online :lol:. The calculator called it a good value trade for both teams. The trade value for first round picks after #10 drop significantly. Its not any kind of science, but that is the tool I used for it. :lol:

I choose to go with another WR in the second because we have NO threat at the wide receiver position. Anotnio Bryant will be 29 this upcoming season, he won't be playing at a high level much longer, but he will be a good stopgap player for now. I feel we need more than one WR that is a threat once the ball is in his hands, and once we accomplish that, our running game will even be more dangerous. Plus Gilyard is a very good return man too, and we sorely need someone who can return kicks and punts.

Trading back would best suit us this year, but a first round pick later than #10
does not have enough value to get an additional second round pick. Now if you're asking for the second round pick in 2011, than you might have something there.

I agree, Clemons development is going to crucial for us. In a "perfect world", we pull a coupe and sign free agent Nick Collins. :hi5:, or we could not draft Assante, and in that position draft FS Major Wright from Florida, but I think the roster will be better balanced with the original plan.
 
If I remember correctly, Cincy has the 21st pick. Balt the 25th.

According to the value chart on Walterfootball, the #12 pick is worth 1,200 points.

Pick 21 is worth 800, and the 21st pick in the second round is 370.

So if you judge by the chart, Cincy would have to give up their 1st and 2nd to move to #12.

Baltimore's #25 pick is worth 720, the 25th pick in the 2nd round is 330. That makes it 1050.

I didn't use Walterfootball, I didn't realize they had a section that covers draft position value. I used some other site, but like I said before, it's not a perfect science anyway, but I hope Walterfootball's value chart is closer to the reality of the issue because we would be better off :lol:
