For all the varied opinions on our QB position, the bottom line is we have reason to be concerned that we are lacking in the most important position in proffesional sports.
I truley believe this team has not been willing to pay the cost (money or draft pick) of bringing a quality QB to Miami. (CPEP had the name, but is not making as much as major QBs in the league.)

Many on this site realize the importance of bringing in an offensive minded HC. The success of the HC will be directly related to the success of the QB. (Ive been preaching this for a while)

Lets take Jamarcus Russell as an example only. He would be a franchise guy that would fill seats and give the dolphins a game changer with a real arm. So what would it cost to get him? First our #9 and next years 1st and possibly a 2nd this year. Thats heavy. But is it worth it? I tend to think so. No risk, no reward.

Next example is trading a key player (god forbid a Taylor and maybe a Chambers) to move to 5 and get a Brady Quinn) Is this worth it? IMO Taylor no, Chambers yes. Trading our second this year to move to 4 or 5? Maybe.

The other options are in FA or try to steal someones up and coming talent via trade. That has not worked well for us in the past.

In conclusion, if we want to fulfill the QB need, we need to pay the price. I hope the Cameron era brings some courage to make these decisions. Our offense has been horrible to watch. We need someone to bring back excitement to a troubled franchise starting with the QB...no matter the cost.

While I agree with most of your post, I also would preach a little caution before giving up the farm to get a quality QB. It's true that a quality QB wouldn't come cheap, but if we're targeting a college player then I'd want to be careful. Ryan Leaf immediately comes to mind.

Actually, I don't think we really need to trade up to get a good QB like Brady Quinn. Right now, with his injury, absence from the Senior Bowl, and poor Bowl performances are hurting his stock possibly enough to drop him like it did Matt Leinart.

Only difference is, Matt Leinart was great in Bowl Games, and in big games too. So in reality, if he were to declare in last year's draft, Brady would be a late 1st round prospect.

i agree with your post somewhat, but i just hope this franchise doesnt get blinded by desperation and gives up TOO much. i wouldnt pull the trigger on moving up to get JR. i would like to think that brady quinn would fall to us, without us giving up anything, which is highly realistic considering the recent knee problems.

As far as athletasism is concerned, I wouldnt compare a Leaf and Russell. Besides that... like I said.....no risk no reward.

True, but this year's QB depth is not very appetizing unless Stanton can climb up the charts.

I see your point. I hope your right about Brady.

yeah of course that is the perfect scenario, but who the hell knows how that knee is doing. we cant just hope for it to be better, this team has to be proactive in getting a QB via the draft.

The sad thing is we wont be able to evaluate CPEP until June at best. That scares me tremendously.
