I don't think anyone in Finheaven wanted Hickey. I think we can all agree the GM search/debacle was Jim Harbaugh v 2.0 at this point.

But

Let's not spend all our time and resources crying over it until we have at least a season under our belts. Let's just consider Hickey our little red step GM and move on to other things so the next 6 months we aren't polarized on a pointless subject. I already feel like I just spent three weeks reading a really good book and the last couple of pages were torn out. Let's move on for the sake of all our sanity.

But after Hickey has a track record here it's on like Donkey Kong...

Okay?

Nah, I think its best we don't forget what a unmitigated disaster this GM search was for, even if it miraculously turns out for the better.

For the record Im not anti Hickey but he is a dubious hire at best. This is the Brian Daboll hire of GM's. If they had went through the process and interviewed their people and chose Hickey I would have reservations but at least I feel they got the guy they really wanted however flawed. So I would be more optimistic. To know he is the GM just because 3 other people we thought were better turned us down is a sad state of affairs

Pick up Mark Dominik and I have less of an issue with it. Dominik is quality.

At least with Hickey if things go badly we can blow it all up again next year...

Calling it what it is. A bad hire and a PR nightmare. No other way to describe. Tired of defending organization and being open minded to stupid.

This is what confuses me the most. Ross seams to have all these people to do bits and pieces of the job (which appears to of been the culprit in the failure) but he has noone to say, "Really Mr. Ross? You do understand the fans are going to take up pitchforks and torches".
