Let's forget about the playoffs for this debate... If we finish this season 8-1, what would you change?

8-1 record consists of the following(Current records)

BEARS (10-2)
CHIEFS (7-5)
VIKINGS (5-7)
LIONS (2-10)
JAGS (7-5)
PATS (9-3)
BILLS (5-7)
JETS (7-5)
COLTS (10-2)

We have 1 team with a losing record ahead of us... Of the past 5 games, 2 teams have losing records. If we were to win out and end the season with an 8-1 record, how would you feel about that? What would you change based on the wins and loss of the past 9 weeks?

I personally think 2-2 will be a miracle over the next 4 games much less 4-0. We will likely be underdogs in all 4 of the remaining games. But, you asked about a hypothetical 8-1 run, so here goes ... I think the changes would occur naturally for the most part. We have overpaid players that will be released like Olindo (hopefully). Culpepper will likely be healthy.

The biggest off-season aquisition needed IMO will be a LT and then some DB help.

We still have needs and moves to make. Some OL changes, K, Receivers, QB contraversy etc to take care of on the offseason.

I would make small adjustments, Drafting 1st the BPA Wideout, Second the BPA LT, Third the BPA CB, then using the rest of our picks to add depth at RB, O-Line, Linebacker, and Safety. I would not sign any big name FA in the offseason. I would also hire a better offensive coordinator even if we had to pull one from the college ranks then use next year as a building year, not expecting to make the playoffs but expecting to build some consistency with which to properly evalute the needs of this team. Then after properly evaluating our needs I would attempt to fill the holes through FA on short term deals and further assess those needs at the end of the season via the draft.

No more wide sweeping changes accross the board, fix one thing at a time, once it's fixed move on to the next problem and eventually you will have a winning team that plays consistently throughout the season and only loses when they are outplayed by a better team. Then you evaluate which portion of the game you were outplayed at and address that in short term free agency and future draft picks.

i want our oline upgraded, i want to spend the entire 17 mil bringin in 2 monsters to knock people over up there so we can run and give our qb some time to throw..that is our biggest need. If we don't address it we are doomed. We better not have the same unit coming into next season.

We don't have a QB controversy. Harrington is the backup, Culpepper is the starter. Just because the starter gets injured, then the backup comes in and goes 4-4, does not mean we've got a controversy on our hands.

well harrington is fricken stinking up the joint. he's thrown an insane amount of ints . (we all knew this getting him from detroit). honestly harrington has had 1 good game 1 average game and a bunch of bad games

honestly, the only changes i see happening is the kicker spot, daunte healing for Qb and ricky williams coming back...maybe a few o-line changes and maybe one secondary or outside linebacker change.

I know Harrington hasn't played all season and we all know that at least 3-4 of Harrington's interceptions were not his fault but the recievers fault. So in saying all that. There are alot more QB's with alot more interceptions then Harrington has. Also just because a QB throws interceptions doesn't mean he hasn't had a good game. ie. (Feilder). who threw alot of interceptions but won alot of games. Out of the last 5 games Harrington only had one game that he didn't throw a interception and we won 4 out of those 5 games.

I don't see how finishing with 8-1 these last 9 makes our offseason changes needed all that different.

I'm with you on the oline.

Finishing the season 8-1??? I don't believe that will happen. I'm surprised we've won 5 games this year.
