Finnegan seems very determined

Talk is cheap. Check out his stats the last 2 years. He can't play anymore. HORRIBLE SIGNING

Alternating between outside and the slot. Finnegan struggled mightily, especially in 2013, when he played through injuries. Last season, he allowed a 136.0 quarterback rating when covering outside on 199 targets, giving up 26 catches for 353 yards and four touchdowns in 34 targets. In the slot, he allowed a 131.9 rating on 24 targets, giving up 19 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns. In both categories, he ranked among the bottom three cornerbacks in the league among players who had taken at least 25 percent of their team’s snaps. He wasn’t that much better in 2012, and at age 30, there may not be much left in the tank.

Everyone is welcome to an opinion. I agree that he did not play well in 13 NEWSFLASH - HE WAS INJURED!. But who ever wrote this does not know what the hell they are talking about. Check his stats for 12. He played damn good.

My opinion is he still has something in the tank and he is motivated. Only time will tell.

He can talk all he wants about what he wants to do. Prove it out on the field!!

Ozzy rules!!

MIKE-O:

CAN YOU POST THE 2012 STATS FOR US and comment on EACH one, [tackles, int's, passes defensed, etc..]

what sucked and what didnt? i would like to see you show us and not tell us.

hey, if he truely sux as you say he does, break down the 12 season stats and explain.

In 2012, Finnegan was ranked #86 of 113 CB's by PFF, and #70 by NFL. He got off to a VG start by having good games in 4 of the first 5, along with 3 picks. After that, he dropped considerably with 6 bad games and 5 a hair below or above average and no picks.

His grades in 2012 were -4.5 vs the run, -1.8 on the rush, and -2.0 in coverage for the year. He allowed a 74% completion rate, 741 yards, just under 10 for an average, 341 YAC, but 0 TD's. Not impressive.

Someone should fact check his claim that he only had like 28 passes thrown his way in the last 13 games. If that was true it could account for this. If you slip up 10 times in a year, get beat 10 times all of a sudden you have a horrible completion % against you. However I would think most CBS would have at least that many mistakes.

Done. In the last 13 games in 2012, he was thrown at 87 times, giving up 68 completions.

Finnegan's one of the most unique players in the league. His approach is inherently grating and there's been a big drop off due to injuries or just age. This signing I could go either way on. It's interesting. He's not cheap, but the contract doesn't really prohibit us from any other moves. I wonder if his annoying head game approach is something the staff wanted passed on to our younger corners. Taylor and Allen have two unique vet mentors. It wasn't Finnegan's athleticism that made him one of the best, it was his approach. It's possible he can back to what he was in which case this is a big steal. Definitely interesting.

i agree. this is a "hope" signing for $11 million. at 30 they hope he can return to his prime. you don't build a perennial contender with moves like this.

Bill Belichick has been doing it for years
