Finnegan signs with Miami

I really like the signing, assuming the cap hit is low. I think we clearly want and expect Jamar to take a big step and secure the number two but if he doesn't this guy was pro bowl caliber just a couple years ago and will be playing with a chip on his shoulder, something that worked out really well for us in a similar gamble last year. I still don't rule out bringing Patterson back to give us great depth.
 
Nice, and the news comes from RapSheet without three "e".

Basically Finnegan replaces Patterson and offers Taylor competition for the starting position. He obviously isn't what he used to be, but hard to judge him on his play last year when he was hurt. Probably won't see the same results we saw when we signed Grimes coming off an injury, but he adds another veteran presence and another level toughness to the secondary. Finnegan can get under WR's skin and get in their heads, sometimes even before the game starts.

Also, like the Delmas signing, it has no impact on the 2015 compensatory draft pick calculation.

Not going after a Thurmond or a Brown bothers me, but I do not hate Finnegan. If he shows he can play, you got a gem.

Agreed, my preference would have been a younger guy who may be entering prime vs. exiting their prime like Finnegan. Oh we'll.

It will be obvious if he can play or not early.

Also, Coyle has done wonders in Cincy with veteran DB's. Maybe again?
 
Upgrade over Patterson and Carroll. Solid #2 corner and can play nickel.

I would add a Tarell Brown AND Finnegan. Never have enough CB's.
 
He has a big personality but what character concerns are there? Does he have a checkered past?
