Finnegan signs with Miami

Let the man play before we kill him...............

Wheres all this "character" stuff coming from. I only know him to be pretty feisty on the field. And I kinda like that swag as long as it doesn't hurt the team.
Am i missing something? Are there off-the-field problems as well?

Non-story. He studies, plays to the whistle and tries to get under guys skin. My kind of player. I think a lot of people like to point to the incident with AJ as a character issue, a bit short sighted in my opinion.

He has a big personality but what character concerns are there? Does he have a checkered past?
As a rookie with the Titans, Cortland Finnegan pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving, ending a DUI case from June 2006.

Under the provisions of a six-month suspended sentence, Finnegan had to undergo supervised probation which ended after completing 20 hours of community service.

Finnegan also paid a $150 fine plus court costs and had a restricted license because of the implied consent —he refused to take a breath test when he was pulled over.

Shortly after his arrest, Finnegan was entered into an NFL alcohol driver safety program, and under the conditions of the court agreement was required to complete those sessions, which he did.

Darn it. This move I don't understand. He's not a character guy like Philbin beats for and his best playing days seem to be behind him. I guess Hickey and Philbin see something in him that they believe will make Miami better.

Maybe Philbin is changing his tune. We have been mediocre bringing in "character" guys. Although he is a shell of his former self, I will enjoy the tenacity Finnegan will bring to the position. We need tough guys and in recent years the majority of the team are guys who are not tough.

So because Andre beat him down he has "off field" issues?

The guy puts it all on the field. Sure he annoys the opposition to the point they want to fight him. But he is not a bad guy off the field or in the locker room.

Delmas and Finnegan will give this D some swagger and attitude, I like it.

Thats it? Something from EIGHT years ago... Its a non-story IMHO.

I'm with it. If he returns to about 80% of himself before his injury, we'll have a dependable starter, and upgrade over Patterson/Carroll.

If that's it I would almost classify him as a high character guy by NFL player standards.... Looks like he served his punishment and has stayed clean since.

Good signing. We can use a little toughness with our d-backs. I remember him getting into it with Texan's receiver Andre Johnson a few years back. He doesn't back down to anyone. :woot:

Alright, next lets get Shelley on the pen and paper.

He is finally starting to realize they can't all be choir boys!
