Where we are looking for a RB, you gotta remember it's only a short term fix, unless we could land a stud. A stud where we could again go with RB by committee & let RW be trade bait next year. There's a lot of names being past around, but again you gotta remember most of them out there are a short term fix. Personally, I like the core of Brown, Morris, Minor, Barnes.
And with Griggs on the practice squad in case someone gets hurt... I think we'd be okay.
So now we got to deal w/the suspension:
1. Staley - Out of shape & not the answer, no better then Ronnie on short yardage plays.
2. Moe W. - good hands, but wouldn't be able play series after series.
3. R. Dayne - A monster, but a hurt monster. And never really looked good.
4. C.Brown - Okay, but not going to come here to be a back up, let alone move to the 3rd back if we keep RW next year.
5. Tatum Bell - I like this guy (fast), but also doesn't want to be a back up, or be a 3rd back if we keep RW in 07'. However, w/Bell I think we could finally use RW as trade bait.
6. N. Davenport - Did okay in pre-season & used to playing a back up RB (possible).
7. A. Smith - Here's a guy who know's he's on his way out, but could be a nice fit for the 1st (4) games. He's used to playing a back up, but always does okay when he comes in.
Whoever, they bring in I'm sure he'll be a good fit. We need someone (like Morris) who can come in (when Ronnie needs a break) for a full series here or there, productively carry the ball, & block during the pass. So I'm thinking it's gotta be between Davenort or Smith. Again, it's only because we need a short term fix & not a FT replacement.
