Just saw this while surfing. Thought some might be interested.

Our sources tells us that the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins remain the most interested in signing former Iowa State defensive end/outside linebacker Jason Berryman to a possible free agent deal.
Berryman, who possessess legitimate NFL talent, went undrafted in last weeks Supplemental Draft in large part due to a long history of off the field troubles. As we learn more we will update the blog with breaking information.

I know this was speculated in the draft forum but now that there is a credible source I thought it deserved to be in the main.

I was wondering what was going on with him. After the supp draft, it was like he dropped off the edge of the earth.

I dont like continually bringing in torubled players, but the Fins mineswell bring him in. We need help at OLB and Berryman would provide the young depth that we just dont have.

good find, I hope the information is up to date. With the very low if any bonus a supplemental draft UDFA would get, he would be hard-pressed to have enough money to get into too much trouble ( I say hopefully).

Your Lucky to see the 66 Phins!! woow wish i couldda been there

Saban seems to like his strongside OLB to be a little bit smaller then most 3-4 teams, and Berryman seems to fit that role. He's consistantly grabbed or looked for sub 250 pound OLBs, and many of them even in the 235-240 pound role. Berryman seems sort of like a poor man's Julian Peterson.

Is the drop off in talent that bad with Spragan? Seems we get a lot of rumors regarding strong side LB.

Berryman's about 6'1" and 230 pounds. He's undersized but powerful and relentless in pursuit. It will be a good addition if we get him. We have nobody to hold the 7th linebacker spot and I would say Berryman would go immediately to the top of the list.

I don't know this guy at all, but if Saban is interested in him he must have some potential

To tell you the truth I wanted him over Brooks.

Early on I did too but as time went on I became more and more comfortable with the idea of spending a 3rd on Brooks. Something that the team dug up on Brooks must have convinced them otherwise.

I did go on record early saying that the nature of Berryman's character issues may make him much more likely to be able to translate his field skills in the NFL where Brooks may have trouble doing so if his work habits persist.
