ESPN, PFT and CBS are reporting that a deal has just been struck to bring an NFL regular season game to England in the new Wembly stadium.

No teams have been announced as of now.

One big rumor going around is that the giants might go because they got 9 home games last year due to the saints being relocated. This was off of ESPN Quickie...but i am unable to find the report.

The last tid bit from the report is that both teams would be scheduled to have a Bye week following the trip to recoop.

Now the question is: If the giants don't go(Cause we dont play them), would you be oppossed to either the fins giving up a home game, or just having an away game in england. Personally i dont see WH giving up a home game cause of all the money he has pumped into us recently. But i would LOVE for the fins to go to England!

ALSO: I found a poll of England Football fans and found that the most popular teams are in order
http://www.ukpatriots.com/forum/ind...?showtopic=1867
Patriots 8.5%
Dolphins 8.2%
49ers 6.1%
Redskins 5.8%
Packers 5.6%

So another possibility based on popularity would face the Pats vs Miami!

EVERYONE READ: I dont care if PFT has reported SOME of this. Greg Aiello of the NFL has confirmed about the possibility of an overseas game. The NFL doesn't say anything about anythign unless it is likely to happen. Recently they have become very tight-lipped in all matters. For a spokesman to come out and say that is as close as you will get to a confirmation till the schedules are released.

I've actually heard that it may be a Bucs game. The NFL would try and take advantage of the fact that Malcom Glazer is majority owner of Manchester United and could have marketing options that would save the NFL some cash. (As if they don't have money to spare :rolleyes2 )

PS. BEST AVATAR EEEVVVVEEEEERRRR! :D

Actually, I didn't see in those links where it said a deal had been struck. All I saw was that it was being considered, which is quite different. And no, I wouldn't care to see the fins play in England, although considering how we have problems selling out our stadium, I'd imagine we might be asked to go before a lot of teams would.

I don't like the NFL having a regular season game outside the United States period. The team that has to give up a home game really gets screwed in all of this and the road team has an advantage because its on a neutral field. I think they just need to do away with it unless its a preseason game.

It could replace an Away game....

its a certainty not to be one of Miamis home games IMO , as much as I would love it to happen. Looks like Redskins , Giants or Bucs are the teams that they are looking at.

Btw best forum for NFL in the UK is the official NFLUK.COM ones , some good knowledge there if you fancy hanging around for a change :D And a shed load of Fin fans there as well. Arguably the best supported NFL team in the UK

Over here in England we had Alister Kenwood or whatever his name is from the NFL and he said its 80-85% sure the NFL comes to London this season.

He said it will be week 3-5 and the teams will be from the AFC. Ive heard no talk of it being our beloveded Miami....

Screw that! I don't want to lose a home game. Miami plays extremly well at home and I'd hate to lose one. I don't want to play there period, thats a long trip and it is a disadvantage for the teams who are playing there. I hate how the NFL does this crap to make money, but it puts teams at a disadvantage. American Football is America's Past time and it doesnt need to be played anywhere else.

Except that if I recall correctly, Manchester United fans burned efigees of the Glazers when they bought Manchester United and they basically hate them.

In fact, I think it is fair to say that the one team that will NOT be going to England may be the Bucs...for security reasons if nothing else.

I find that poll to be very interesting. I doubt the game could be a division game because that would mean that one team gives up a home division game while the other just gives up an away division game. That would be a TOTAL d!ck move by the NFL, unless it were the Giants whose home game was taken.

I think they'll bring the Patriots to England. New England in England, the "Patriots" coming to England...not to mention their popularity there...too many marketing angles. The only problem is New England has like ZERO trouble getting fans butts in their seats and the NFL will probably look to do like they did with Mexico and end up having twice as many people attending at Wembley than they would have if the game were played at the home team's stadium.

The Saints certainly become a candidate.

That would be awfully short-sighted, as Malcolm Glazer is DESPISED by Manchester United fans. http://www.joinmust.org/home_gimpview.php

But this came up in a previous thread. The AFC team that will give up a home game to London is most likely going to be Jacksonville, although Oakland has also been mentioned. The Dolphins play Jacksonville in Miami this season, and so they will not be the opponent for the Wembley game.

The thing is the NFL want to expand. they want to make as much money as they can and bringing 'amercias past time' over here is a good move. We will sell out whatever game it is. That you should be pleased about. However if you have youre Fins taken away then you have every right to be mad mate.

I understand that its all about money. I understand that there are a lot of people in Europe that would like to see their favorite team play in person, but the NFL is making enough money and I think it hurts the sport in the long run because it puts teams at disadvantages. I think the majority of NFL fans would not want to see their team play in England. I also think the majority of the players would rather not play in England, so the NFL needs to forget about it IMO.

That's Stupid!!!!

I wouldn't want to see our Dolphins playing a home game in England.... That is a huge disadvantge, besides There's nothing like watching the Dolphins play in Miami.....

The NFL wanna head over to England twice in 4/5 years. Germany also want in....

Sorry guys but one day we will lose a Fins home game. Great for a fan like me but evenb then it will be bad for the Fins back home and Miami football because its not a home game.

I think the idea is ludicrous. I thought the same thing about the Mexico game. If they want to watch NFL football at that time of year then change their teams scheduling. If Miami goes over there I'll be really ticked off. The NFL is a USA product. Keep it that way.
