Fins interview Dowell Loggains, could join offensive staff

From what I know of Loggains, he is supposed to be a decent coach, but has struggled in his 2 OC jobs. If he is coming in to coach rather than call plays im fine with this

It has begun. The changes the Miami Dolphins are expected to undergo this offseason following a disappointing 6-10 record in 2017 are already in the works.

The club on Tuesday brought former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains to its team facility with the idea of seeing if he’s a fit to upgrade the offensive coaching staff.

Loggains spent the day with head coach Adam Gase and the two discussed Loggains taking on a significant workload in preparing the offense week to week. That work must include raising the Dolphins offense from its doldrums of the past seasons. The Dolphins averaged 17.6 points per game and finished 28th in points scored last season.

The interview, which sources say went well, did not result in a hiring on Tuesday but it is clear Loggains is a favorite to be hired.

Im fine with him coming in if he isnt calling plays etc. The Bears stunk and had a lot of injuries. Would you want to work with Mike Glennon?

I had hoped to see him come in a position coach, but if he is basically taking some of Christensen's workload, that sounds fine to me. Though I still like talk of someone like Caldwell coming in as a consultant

If he's a young coach I'll trust Gase's judgment. I thought his staff should have been younger to begin with.

He left without a deal so who know, maybe they talk to some others.. I sure would like to see something else done on the defensive side.

Interesting you say that as some others wanted some more "gray beard" types to balance our the staff's experience.

Eh, when you are as close as Gase and Loggains I suspect the decision didn't hinge on an interview, was probably getting tours etc

lol my brother played peewee football with Dowell Loggains in Abilene, TX. My dad coached that team too. He looks exactly the same haha
