The Dolphins told cornerback Nate Jones, an impending unrestricted free agent, they want to re-sign him, but they could not agree on a contract, said his agent, Everette Scott, who didn't rule out reviving talks. The Dolphins expect Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Sean Smith to battle for two starting jobs, with Allen -- off a knee injury -- due to make $5.2 million guaranteed. Against three-receiver sets, Allen could assume Jones' 2009 role -- covering the slot receiver.

No worry, Jones is only average at best, and was not good blitzing this year.

what are you talking about?

he had more sacks than Vontae and Sean...not to mention he had better stats AND was rated higher as a corner of ProFootballFocus.com....

obviously he is average, thats why he was a nickel corner and behind 2 rookies on the depth chart. we arent hoping he is the next Deion Sanders. He is solid at what he does.

Id much rather have Jones than Will Allen, whos infamously known for dropping more picks than Ginn dropping balls...

glad to see some fans dont know squat about the players on this team :rolleyes2:
I think the guy just has the Steelers game on his mind. Like it's so easy for a 190 lb CB to take down a 240 lb QB in Big Ben.

Ultimately, I think Nate had too good of a year to accept dime CB money, and we will lose him to an inferior team that is willing to pay more for a guy that they believe will compete for a starting job.

Vontae and Smith only rushed the passer one time. And they are rated higher than Nate because he didn't defend the run or rush the passer well.

That's according to them.

I was saying in another thread how even tho I like Nate Jones, with him turning 28 . . . he will be looking for what may be his final payday in the NFL, coming off of a salary netting him a little over 600,000 a year . . . u can expect him to look for atleast double that. Do the Fins want to do it? Guess we will see.

It isn't the biggest loss losing him. We can draft a late round guy like Vann who can do returns and run back with the 4 guys still on the roster.
