No question Miami had opportunities to win games that they should have won and we were basically a few LESS bad plays away from winning several more games. Nevermind MAKING plays, if this team could have cut down on it's mistakes offensively (which we should do this year) we would have won 3 more games just by not shooting OURSELVES in the foot. With a defense that will likely improve (or at least not drop off) and an offense that doesn't kill ITSELF and can convert a few more thrid downs, we should pull out a few more wins. Throw in an offense that is actually somewhat formidable, and it's not unrealistic to think we can contend for a playoff spot.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but if we can be smarter with the ball when throwing it, and be more creative with our guys who can make some plays for us, we can surprise some people. There are quite a few IFs. But because we were able to retain Capers and now that we have an offensive minded guy who really likes to ATTACK the defense, there is reason to be at least guardedly optimistic.
