Mike Maser the new offensive line coach is a screamer even he admits it. I hope the fins players can adjust quickly it is differnt then HH's style.

"He yells a lot," Panthers center Jeff Mitchell said Tuesday. "I wouldn't say he yells at anybody in particular. He just likes to yell. That's just the way he communicates. You've got to love the guy. He's a product of his environment. He was with Coughlin for 13 years [with Boston College and the Jaguars]. That can make you a screamer."

Maser agreed that's his style.

"I'm exuberant. I'm boisterous. I'm vocal. That's my job. I guess I have a reputation for that. That's the way I work. That's the way I am," he said.

We love it 'til they get sick of being screamed at and tune him out.

These intense fire and brimstone guys always seem more effective, to me anyways, in their first year... before people start to tune out their yelling.

Well if certain players "tune him out" then I would send them packing and find some o-linemen who want to stay hungry and play hard. Besides, many of his former players keep in contact with him so they must respect him and like him.

I hope this leads to Travel Wharton signing with us. We'd be a solid left guard away from having an offensive line that ranks around 10th in the league.

:up:Exactly. Travelle Wharton is the LT I targeted for us in this year's free agency. I've mentioned him in past post that I've made but nobody seems to warm up to the idea yet. I think Wharton will end up being a very good long term fixture for us at LT, he's strong, moves well, he's young, and he won't hurt us to much in the pocket to get him.

Yes he is, and you're not the only one. He's a little under the radar so people don't know him that well. Although i think we will see our changes to the O-line occur in the draft more than FA.

One more point here, the other day I saw an article that said that Carey was open to the idea of moving back to the right side. He only graded out 4%lower overallon the left side this season. If we could get him at RT and a solid LT we have the bookends solidified.

I don't see it as being a problem. Football players are screamed at through their entire playing lives.

Good to hear, thats one thing I loved about Saban. He didnt take any ****, and was always seen intense, on fire, and screaming.

I was all for signing Travelle Wharton at the end of the season but after reading Jordan Gross is a free agent I would much rather see him wearing a Fins uni. If he gets tagged then I will be all for Wharton.

with Saban, we pretty much had the same type of team as we did this past season, but his attitude and style demanded the very best out of the players and coaches, and wound up grinding out 15 wins with two sub-par teams in 2 seasons. We need that back in Miami. Players respond to it, it makes everyone try to exceed their own expectations.

it's not so much how you scream as what you scream. i don't think it will be too much of a problem. just have him scream all the time and the players will think thats how he normally talks.

I want a coach that knows his players...which ones he needs to yell at and when...and which ones he doesn't need to do that with.

Picked this up from Phinsider.com

Sparano worked one season with Maser in Jacksinville in 2002.

Interesting to note that the Panthers LT Travelle Wharton is a free agent this year and, outside of Flozell Adams, is the best free agent tackle on the market. With Maser here now, it'll be interesting to see if the Dolphins decide to take a serious look at Wharton in free agency.

Here's the rest if interested.
