They gave him his 1 quarter to compete, and have now decided on putting all their bets on Henne after 2 weeks of practice and a nice 3rd down conversion.

Beck has all the tools, many analysts have stated this. But he is not a Parcells guy. I say give the guy a break and trade him.

Having a QB on the roster and giving him no snaps is retarded, especially when he was only drafted last year.

I disagree. I would keep all four QB's on the roster. Noodle arm won't make it through half a season without being injured and Mclown hasn't proven he is more than barely serviceable. They need to find out what they have in Henne and Beck before giving up on them.

I say keep him. Cut McNown and henne be the 3rd.
Henne shouldnt play 1 snap this year let him sit and learn. Pennington will start and have beck as the backup. After this year see where we stand. Either trade beck or maybe he steps in and plays. Who know. Lets wait and see.

I actually agree... Henne is the future, Beck has slim to 0 chance.... Mc Cown is a great option at 3rd......

We are rebuilding and can use an extra pick next off season!!!

I don't understand why any of you guys would think that somebody would trade for Beck. Why would a team trade for a player that isn't good enough for a 1-15 team, that needs a QB. How would you guys feel if we traded a draft pick for the 3rd string QB on the Falcons or any other sorry team that needs a QB?

Not only that, he might be available for nothing in a couple weeks.

Just because we overdrafted him, doesn't mean he has value.

i agree...i mean i dont see what goes on in camp so i can only base my opinions off what i read and hear and from what i saw last year. Beck was horrible last year in the few games that he played and from what i hear this year there has been no improvement. So from what it seems is that Beck isnt too promising. Trust me i wish he would prove me wrong and turn into a beast. But its most likely not gonna happen.
I like the idea of Henne being our QB down the road, i think he could be really good. I was a little turned off to the thought of Pennington being the qb at first when i heard it that night they signed him. But im over it now, and im excited to see what he can do, i think he would fit well. If anything it was a good idea to bring in someone like CP with some football knowledge to mentor Henne.
McCown has been a backup for his whole career and thats all he'll ever be. He's not a starter.

And what do you think we would get for a failed 2nd round pick? Maybe a 7th? We cant get anything for him.

Sorry Zaphod but you are wrong. Just because some analysts have stated something positive about Beck does not make it fact. Heck you can claim to be an football analyst and your opinion would mean nothing. The only analysis that matters is what the coaches think, who spend THOUSANDS of hours reviewing tapes, scouting players and trying to maximize how each player performs. Beck has obviously not impressed them too much, nor has he impressed most of the fans, except for some of us that live in la-la-land that are holding on to the slimmest hope that he may actually be a good, starting caliber QB in the NFL. I will tell you something, Henne, who took a big hit and still got the ball off, looked better with one throw than anything Beck has shown me.

Face the music Beck will be set free. But in all probability the "analysts" that run other teams will pass on giving up anything to get him.

Since you feel its "retarded" that Beck has gotten no snaps lately, and feel that he should be traded, what do you think would be fair compensation for a QB like Beck who the "analysts" think has "all the tools"? Are you implying that Parcells and CO. are going to give up on the potential savior of this franchise because he isn't one of their guys?

Just as a historical note that I was reading about recently. For those of you who think Beck is worthless to us, but we won't get anything for him.

In 1991 the Falcons drafted Brett Favre in the 2nd round (33rd), he only took 4 snaps his entire time with the Falcons, not one of them a completion. His first pass was an interception for a TD.

The following year Green Bay gave a 1st round (19th) pick to get Favre, because they intended to in the 91 draft, but Atlanta got to him first.

Now if you were a GM of a team, would you have traded a higher draft pick than was actually used to get him in the first place, to get him from another team after having a horrible rookie season? If you say yes...you are a liar.

I only bring this up though because it goes to show you one of two things, either A: Beck could in theory, make a remarkable turnaround and become a HOF worthy QB or B: some other team that still feels he has potential from his college days would give us a good offer for him, blaming his poor performance last year on a bad O-line, and inexperience. Either way though some good will come out of Beck.

Henne complete's one nice pass in a preseason game and everyone annoints him then Next Coming of Dan Marino... Amazing... Unless someone gives a 2 round pick for Beck why would you trade him... Would be stupid IMO. I know everyone's read's those idiots from Palm Beach Post saying Henne's so great... Don't believe everything you read... If you read closely you'll see the bias toward Henne. I am not saying Henne is not good but they tear down his competition because they have a Man thing for him.

Last year Beck was not ready to play... This year He's under a new system, it's like being a rookie all over again. To us, he's worthless, not a Tuna pick or type.
in 2 years he's gone through 3 systems and is struggling with the changes... In another system, he can be better than average.

Hell, if Cam liked him so much, send him packing to the Ravens for a 4th rnd..

yea give him to that idiot, Cam Cameron's the worst along with the old GM Randy Mueller

We don't need to trade him. We should keep him. Injuries could be a problem. We have the roster space and don't need to clear salary so how would hurt to keep him.
