Touchdown
I was thinking tails.
...and then people will blame Ross or Ireland. Though honesty losing the toss might be better. If they have the 8th pick they will have the 42nd overall pick in the second round. Though if they have the 9th pick, they will get the 40th overall pick in the second round.
I don't get the process for determining draft order, for the playoffs head to head is first but for the draft it's wins by opponents which is silly. last year Chicago drafted before us despite having a better record, beating us head to head and advancing as far as we did. This year Philly is ahead of us despite having the same record and beating us head to head. It doesn't make any sense.
Are you joking or are we actually to the point of looking for details of a coin flip? I don't think the teams even care what kind of coin they use, no need to overanalyze this. There is probably some low level NFL representative that flips a coin in front of a low level representative from the Panthers and Dolphins. Probably just a quarter, but who really cares? The NFL representative probably says Panthers are heads and Dolphins are tails or vice versa. He flips the coin and that is that as he moves on to the next coin flip.Question I have is how do they determine who gets to call the coin in the air? Or do they just consider heads to be the Dolphins or Panthers tails? Do they even flip a quarter or is it some kind of special AFC/NFC coin?
What exactly are the rules for coin flips that determine draft orders?
Sort of how Miami swept the Bills, finished ahead of them in the standings yet will pick ahead of them in the draft. The idea for the draft is that Miami is worse than the Bills because they had the same record yet did this against an easier schedule. The Bills schedule was tougher which in theory puts them at a disadvantage and makes it harder for them to win games. We know that is not the truth and that the Dolphins are the superior team, so in this case the better team does pick before the worse team.I don't get the process for determining draft order, for the playoffs head to head is first but for the draft it's wins by opponents which is silly. last year Chicago drafted before us despite having a better record, beating us head to head and advancing as far as we did. What if the coin lands on its side?It was actually kinda serious because of the vBookie evenet that I started. If the Dolphins call say heads in the air and that's the winner, then that option pays out. So what if it isn't a heads/tails coin but rather an AFC/NFC coin. I guess we'll just default AFC to heads. And I hope the results of this coin flip is posted somewhere online.

Are we interpreting the rules based on opinions or is this the NFL version?

There's no interpretation, it's there in black and white in the OFFICIAL NFL rulebook at nfl.com but keep whining about it.
