The Dolphins' playoff possibilities vary wildly heading into the regular-season finale. A victory gives them the American Football Conference East title. They can even achieve a first-round playoff bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs should Oakland, Tennessee and Pittsburgh lose their final games.
They can lose to New England and still be playoff-bound if the Jets lose to Green Bay and Denver defeats Arizona or if the Jets lose and Kansas City loses to or ties Oakland. Miami's seeding can range anywhere from second to sixth.
Typical of the parity in the N.F.L., Miami can just as easily be eliminated. A loss to the Patriots and a Jets victory over Green Bay would bring the Dolphins' season to a thudding end.
