Fins reach out to Porter

If we sign Porter, it would be BY FAR the best free agent signing we've had in a very, very long time.

I think he'd be even better in the scheme that Capers runs. Same system (3-4), but LBs usually enjoy huge numbers and effectiveness under Capers.
 
we already have a good D-line...
So if we add Porter to our Linebackers with Crowder and Thomas there we would have the top rundefense in the nfl easily. as well as an pretty good short passing defence. This would be HUGE to pick him up. Too bad it might cost a pretty penny.
 
I dont know about this strategy...If it was up to me we would be spending the big bucks of free agency on the offense (specifically the offensive line) because if we want to win anytime soon we need to stay young on defense (via the draft) and we need more expirence on offense (via free agency)...but i guess its hard to pass on a guy like Joey Porter...

It would be really nice if we could get the players we need really cheap, but thats not going to happen. If we want players with alot of talent then we will have to pay for them. Some players are worth alot of money and some not. Joey Porter would be worth alot of money. We need this guy. And more then any other free agent I sure hope we can get him.

Not only would Joey Porter add a huge presence to our linebacking core but the increased pressure he causes would be huge for our secondary. He is the one guy in free agency I can truely say I don't mind giving a sizeable contract to.

Imagine our 3-4 linebacking core.

OLB: Porter
ILB: Crowder
ILB: Thomas
OLB: Taylor
