Fins Shopping Sean Smith (also low-balling Eric Winston)

Wasnt winston released because he failed a physical? Not smart too offer top dollar if hes not healthy.

He had his ankle scoped to get some bone spurs taken out. He's 5 weeks into his rehab that takes 6-8 weeks. He's fine.

We could have had our RT sewn up and taken care of for the next 7 years. I don't get Ireland, he drafts O-line and D-line at the top of the draft every year but one so you would think he places high value in the position but he low balls a guy that should have been going to the pro bowl for the last 3 seasons. I'm being patient here but I'm having a real hard time seeing the direction they're tying to go in here. It would seem as though they're setting Philbin up to fail right from the get-go.

Mods can probably change title as the Sean Smith trade rumors are false:

Please ignore any rumors u hear about Dolphins trying to trade cornerback Sean Smith. I'm told its not true. And he's playing a CB, not FS

Per Omar Kelly.

I feel like we would be trading Smith's twitter account more than trading Smith himself. That's all I know of the kid.

Yeah, pretty much this. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons they wouldn't pay Winston is because they're still waiting on Manning to OFFICIALLY tell them he's not coming, and wanted to have the cap space available juuuust in case Denver and Tennessee decide they're cool with Tebow and Hasselbeck/Locker and no longer want Manning. Because that's the only way he doesn't sign in one of those places.

Winston was would have made 5.5 million this season with the texans. How much is he asking for? How much are we offering? What is this guys definition of "low balling"?

I don't know what "lowball" offer means here, but we can't pay Winston too much. I posted this in other threads...

Winston is a liability in pass protection. He has given up 17 sacks the past 2 seasons in 32 games to go along with 12 penalties.

Other Free Agents with stats for last 2 seasons....
Anthony Collins - 0 sacks (16 games) with 2 penalties
Kareem McKenzie - 8.5 sacks (32 games) with 5 penalties
Levi Brown - 18.5 sacks (32 games) with 11 penalties.

To compare, Columbo gave up 20 sacks (31 games) with 10 penalties.

So while i like Winston, Anthony Collins looks to be the best route for pass protecting if our offense is going to shift that way. If we become more of a run team, that's where Winston excels.

I like Kohney but he's very prepare for the worst, expect even lower than that on twitter at times.

As for the rumors. One Omar debunked them, but it wouldn't shock me if true. I think Smith gets a lot of undeserved flak at times, but he doesn't fit the type of CB Kevin Coyle is known for.

Twitter would be the only reason Phins would trade Smith. I would be highly disappointed, maybe moreso than Marshall. Not that he is as good as Marshall, but the kid still has tons of potential and still pretty good. Smith is still raw as a CB. Only thing he is lacking is big play ability. Yet in college showed plenty. Never know when something flips and the game slows down. But he does gotta chill on twitter I would think. Read other day and he's talkng about pulling a Cecil "The Diesel" Collins move.

We have no reason to not believe the things posted on Twitter. This front office has done so many mind boggling mistakes that nothing seems out of the question.

Do tell, as a "real" fan, which part of the 6-10 season was your favorite: The seven straight losses or missing the playoffs yet again? Go back to cheering about how "great" it is that we traded away the best player on our team for garbage scraps.
Yeah, I LOVED how Marshall dropped almost as many passes as he caught. I LOVED how he berated our QB's and hindered the development of chemistry between the QB and WR's. I LOVED how he would throw fits on the sideline and make a total ass of himself. Face it, we are going to have a young QB running this team. I, for one, am thrilled that Marshall is not going to be around to hinder his progress, much like he did Henne's. For all that he did good, he did just as much bad. This "real fan" is a realist. I have the ability to see that this is a marathon and not a sprint. We have to give Philbin the chance to build the team he wants. For all of the armchair QB's that think they know more than the people running the team, you are nothing but fools. You bitch and moan and have zero idea how difficult it is to do their jobs. So just sit your lazy ass behind your computer and continue to think that you actually have a clue and when we are a playoff team in the next year or 2, then you sit there and act like you were a believer all along. Loser.
