The Dolphin's front office have loaded up on draft picks this year. This makes it easier to trade up in the draft because we could trade some of them away, and still have plenty of draft picks. I think the best spot for the Fins to trade up to is 3 with the Browns. If for some reason the Raiders choose Calvin Johnson with the first pick, we are guaranteed to have one of the two best QBs in the draft. If both QBs are drafted with the first and second picks, then we can get Calvin Johnson who everybody already knows about. It also gives us a chance to get Joe Thomas if front office really thinks LT is a huge need. I'm not sure exactly what it would take to trade up to 3, but the Fins have enough ammo to do it. Maybe our 9, 60 and another player might do it, but it could definitely be worth it if we could get one of the players listed above. What do you Dolfans think about this idea?
 
The only player worth trading up for is Calvin Johnson. As much as i want a franchise QB, you cant pass on a player like CJ. All this hype about Joe Thomas, who im not saying isnt very good, but Robert Gallery had the same hype about him and he has been a BUST. While Quinn and Russell are the top 2 QBs in the draft this year, i would only trade up for CJ.
 
I watched every game robert gallery played in and joe thomas is better.

that doesn't guarantee he won't be a bust...


in gallery's defense he plays for the raiders... it's hard to look good on that team.
 
I think you may be slightly SHOCKED at what it would cost to move up 6 draft spots to number 3 but according to the draft value chart at NFL.com
The #3 pick has a value of 2200 points

our #9=1350 points
our #40=500 points
our #60=300 points
our #166=25 points
our#183=18.2 points
our#210=7.4 points
TOTAL=2200.6 POINTS VERSUS 2200 FOR THE #3 PICK

So the cost to move up with just using draft picks would be
OUR #1
BOTH#2s
BOTH#6s
ONE#7 (( 6 PLAYERS TO MOVE TO #3))

With this team needing players at almost every position HOW WISE WOULD IT BE TO TRADE AWAY 6 PLAYERS TO MOVE UP TO #3???????????????????

NOT VERY WISE TO SAY THE LEAST!!
 
I agree with miamiron --- NO TRADING UP! This teams needs too many new players to reach for just one.

If we trade at all early in the draft, we should trade DOWN, not up!
 
if we trade just draft picks to trade up there is no way I want to do it.

I also don't think we have any one player other than maybe ronnie or ZT JT who would have significant trade value to make up for the points.

So than we would be looking at trading away some of next years picks... which would be a big no no.

So I guess the only trading we are doing had better be down.
I think we should trade down and grad stanton with our first. He will be the best qb available and if we are dead set on bringing a guy it should be him.

Than we go OLINE and secondary and other needs with the rest of our picks.

no one player is worth trading half your draft away to acquire.
 
Send RW to cleveland, swap 1st, and a 3rd NEXT year so we can have teh chance to gain taht 3rd back by other trades the following year.

i would trade up for #3 with the browns. I would trade #9, #40 and chambers if calvin johnson is still availible. i doubt he will be there because TB is thinking about trading up with lions according to nfl.com, if we picked at #3 then we would be gaurenteed to get either russel quinn or johnson, and it would be good for the browns too because i believe that peterson will still be there, which i believe he is who they want. even thought they signed lewis, they only signed him for 1 year. i think it is just to help him out his first year or to have a 1 2 punch with runningbacks. My draft with no trading up or down...
