"The Dolphins today signed quarterback Zac Dysert, who was on the Broncos' 53-man roster the entire season when Gase was offensive coordinator there and threw for more yards than Ben Roethlisberger at Miami (Ohio).

But Dysert, a seventh-round pick, hasn't been able to stick on a 53-man roster since his rookie year. He was on Denver's practice squad in 2014 and was on the p-squads for Buffalo and Houston last season. He might end up simply being a camp arm."

Anyone have any thouhts on him?

camp arm, hasnt been on a roster in years

If Gase worked with him and liked him, I like the idea of bringing him in. Doubt Matt Moore is coming back so the backup job is wide open.

Apparently he broke all of Big Ben's records at Miami Ohio. Isn't it interesting how one QB can have enormous success in the league and another can't even make a roster?

Maybe he's our Warner. :chuckle:

Moore has to be gone. We need to draft a QB in the 6th or 7th as insurance only. This new kid might be OK. Time will tell.

This is a predictable move by any new coach: fill the roster with his guys. I'm sure Gase does not have delusions that Dysert will replace Tannehill. But as a backup #2 or developmental #3 it is a good move.

I think the QB3 role has been lost on most teams because they can't develop talent. If Gase uses a QB3 on the 53, then I believe in him if he believes in himself that he can develop a QB and always have a fresh face ready to go when an injury hits.

If nothing else, QB3 helps push your QB2 which pushes QB1. If the top of the roster constantly feels pressure from the bottom of the roster then players don't get complacent.

Let's face it, leaving RT and Moore unchecked for several years has led to a lack of fire from the position. At least Devlin's roster spot pushed Moore to stay ready. And if you don't have a QB3 then you're not really trying to develop the future.

I don't know that we have the luxury of spending a draft pick on QB in any round. So, searching the scrap heap right now for familiar faces is better than nothing. Fill out the roster and let competition dictate the results.

I like it. We need fresh faces. And I would say Moore won't be back. We will be looking to trim fat and that's an easy salary to pluck from the tree.

RT will have a few new faces behind him this year. It's a good thing. And time for the past to be put behind us. A roster overhaul is underway. New faces, new hopes and dreams.

Wasn't Logan Thomas added to the roster late last season because the FO was concerned he might get poached? Wonder how Gase feels about him.

Yes, It was reported that there was a couple teams that were going to poach him, that is why he was moved to the roster late in the season. Clearly he is liked a lot by Tannenbaum or Grier.

Yes I think Cincy was going to sign him when Dalton got hurt if I recall correctly.

I remember in my Madden 15 franchise (playing as the Dolphins), Dysert took over for Peyton after he retired and turned into a 99 ovr player.

Completely different level...most college players never make it to the pros.

Least important position on the team. If we haven't been able to break Ryan Tannehill after four years of trying our damnedest, doubt we will now.
