I just don't get the hangup over age, especially when we're considering a 36 yo QB with serious neck problems who we'd be counting on to get 3 more years out of. If Weeden comes in at 28, hits the ground running like say, Flacco did, and we get 7 or 8 very productive years oout of him while in his 6th year, drafting and grooming his replacement, what's the problem with that????

IMO disqualifying an obviously talented and mature QB who has plenty left in the tank over age issues is being "penny wise and pound foolish." :idk:

You are seriously comparing Weeden to manning? Manning has been an amazing qb in the nfl for his career, Weeden has never taken an nfl snap. IDC if we draft weeden, although I think there are way better prospects, but I would take Manning hands down and comparing the manning situation to weeden is pretty laughable.

This. This is exactly why Miami can not and will not draft Weeden. We don't have that luxury.

There aren't too many people in the game who know Flynn better than Joe Philbin. If Miami don't pursue him, then it is likely Philbin doesn't think he has what it takes to make it big in the league. That leaves Manning and RGIII as the true franchise caliber QBs we may go after. With all the uncertainty surrounding Manning, we could well see the fins go flat out at RGIII.

If reports are correct about what the Browns and 'skins are considering giving up then we're gonna have to pay a hefty price. It will take a lot to better Cleveland's offer of the 4th and 22nd pick this year. St Louis will still get Kalil or Blackmon and also have an extra first rounder which they could trade back and gain more picks to fill the many holes on their team.

I'm not comparing the 2, although I sure wouldn't bet the farm that a QB who's already older than 98% of the league's starters and who's undergone 4 neck surgeries in the last 19 months will be the one we remember even 2 seasons ago. What I am comparing is the disingenuity of those willing to bring him in for 2 to 3 years at most but at the same time declare a 28 yo with much upside as "too old" despite the reality that if he works out, he can deliver the team a good 6-8 years of service. I think anyone at this point would buy into a good 6-8 year run and let the chips fall where they may as compared to having say a Sanchez or Gabbert under center. That's the point.

But likewise, to get butthurt over a reading miscomprehension concluding that someone has the audacity to compare Manning to Weeden or anyone else, to me is "pretty damn laughable'

imho i would rather take a chance on Manning over weeden any day of the week.mort has done said that Manning is makin progress ,and makin progress FAST..

It's easy to say trade up for RG3, but look at the rest of the field vying for him. We're twice as far down in the draft as the Browns, AND the Browns have 2 1st rounders, AND the Browns will probably suck next year and yield higher picks for next year's draft. Then there's the Redskins. Come on, man. I like RG3 but I'm not sure Philbin will hitch the next 3 years of talent to the prince of Baylor.
