Dolphins | Capers will not be given defensive coordinator title
Wed, 12 Jul 2006 18:50:56 -0700

Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports the Miami Dolphins will not give
special assistant Dom Capers the title of defensive coordinator, but that
essentially is his job with the team. The Dolphins save cash that way,
causing the Houston Texans to pay Capers $2 million in 2006 and the
Dolphins only $300,000.

I find that interesting...burners with experience.

Rumors in New Orleans say that Devery Henderson is fighting for a job with Bethel Johnson. Whoever loses that competition supposedly may be cut. I loved Devery coming out of the draft. He's fast as heck and he's one of Saban's kids out of LSU. I wonder if we'd pick him up.

It looks like Nick Saban is leaving no stone unturned!

Saban has a definite fascination with the fallen angels of the league...guys who were once good enough and put in the right situation to have a whole lot of success but have since dropped off the face of the earth. This applies to guys that were drafted high as well. I guess I can understand it...but I think 99% of the time these guys drop off the face of the earth for a reason.

Yeah It must be that father thing he has going with players like Ricky etc...
He just seems to believe that if he treats them like men etc they will come around.

More like he's feeling like if situations were set up for them to succeed in the past, can we recreate those situations again. I didn't mean he takes fallen character players...but like Kevin Johnson, use to be good with the Browns, drafted high, had a lot of success, now has fallen off the planet. He's not a bad guy and it ain't like he was caught with an underaged prostitute or anything. Teams have just found he's not talented enough for some reason.

Seems to me like Nick is never satisfied with that type of player until he's taken a whiff himself to see why.

Good points... Ok sir have a great day... I am off to work...

I'm loving this, great business

These talks could well have been contingency plans, in case we didn't land who we wanted in the draft/FA.

I'm glad we are not persuing these guys. I think we have enough wide recievers to last us the next 3 or 4 years! :)

I look at this speculation regarding WR's the same way I look at Wilkenson at NT or Bennett at RB. Saban is doing due diligence in the event he doesn't like what he sees come camp time or someone he is counting on gets injured. Why wait until the last moment to start investigating players, why not do it now so you have a proper read on them when/if the time comes?

I believe we were sniffing alot around Hakim right before the draft. This is the first I've heard about us being intersted in Johnson.

If we didn't drafted Hagan, then Hakim or Johson probably would of been our 2dn option. I'm glad we drafted Hagan though. Don't really much care for either of those two vets.
