Miami Dolphins are giving LB Kiko Alonso a first-round tender at $3.91 million, per league source. Alonso not going anywhere in 2017.

No long term deal for Kiko...

 @MiamiDolphins
We have placed a first-round tender on LB Kiko Alonso, original round tenders on S Michael Thomas and RB Damien Williams.

And a tender for Williams

Nickel/Safety/ST captain Michael Thomas receives RFA 1-year tender from Miami Dolphins per league source.

Dolphins are trying to finalize a long-term deal w/ LB Kiko Alonso by 4 p.m. If they cannot do it by deadline, he'll get restricted tag.

The Dolphins do expect to sign two potential starting guards in free agency. I'm told there is a plan.

I remain concerned about Kiko's ability to stay healthy, but he is a good player. I think keeping Thomas is important and would seek to do a (cheap) long term deal - he is an elite special teams player and a great leader

Honestly don't mind a Kiko multi-year deal. Saves us money in the long run, even if he doesn't stay healthy for all of it.

Please bring in one stud guard and another decent one we can afford!! Warford specifically lol
PHINS UP!!!

I think we have to look at a different part of the guard market. Some of the top guys could get 8-10

Would be amazing to go ahead and get two plug and play guards.. Then we can go BPA

It's not going to be a top 5 FA guard after the Stills, Branch, Thomas and Alonso contracts. It's more like.....

Tyler Shatler (Jax), for 3 years 15M
Jonotthan Harrison (Ind) 2 years, 6M

With our weapons I think we can do well with just mediocre guard play as long as Pouncey holds up. Which means I'd like to sign a guard who can also play center. Urbik gives us a bit of flexibility in that regard. IMHO he is a very solid guy to have as a backup.

All the weapons in the world does you no good if your QB is on his back and you can't open up holes for the RB

Well on the bright side it's nice to know they have some sort of plan for the guard situation

We have had historically bad guard play the last three years and Pouncey has been out a ton. I'm not counting on Pouncey though. I think we need two decent FA signings at the position with one being a guy who can step in for Pouncey. I'm not talking about another couple of Bushrod type signings, and even he was an upgrade on the Bobsy twins from 2015.

And we will have more awful guard play again if the team once again goes cheap on bottom feeders. They absolutely need to spend whatever is left on one of the top guards (not named Leary).

Nobody said they should sign bottom feeders.

Thomas could sign elsewhere and Miami gets nothing. He would be missed on special teams mostly but we really need to improve the safety spot outside of Jones. Our roster, at safety, has too many special teams players that can't play on the field when needed. Aikens is special teams only, Thomas is special teams with some nickel capabilities but not good if he has to start for a prolonged period, IAQ is injured and a journeyman, Rambo is bad, and Hendy has potential but never saw any action on the field...again, only played special teams.

Dolphins should be in the market to draft a safety...question is when? How high of a priority is it? I suppose IAQ's injury plays a factor.
